Why does my compressor weight so much.......?

Normspanners thanks for the diagram, it's basically the same as mine. I did add earlier that I'd bypassed the start cap / centrifugal switch not the winding as I previously said Doh!
I just stuck a 13amp switch fuse spur inline with the cap and used it in place of the centrifugal switch.
I'm still waiting for the 50uf cap to arrive so it's on hold for now.

Well a bit of success!
But not on this compressor, I've been messing around with a small 25 litre Ingersoll Rand compressor I inherited from my old man. One new capacitor and pressure switch later and it's running up and down fine .
