Evening guys.
Any of you chaps know where I can get some extra wide slot screwdrivers. Some of the slot screws on my lathe are wide. A standard driver ain't really correct fitting .

^^^ That was my first thought, or some impact bits seem quite wide.

You need some of these. Can't find a source at present. Britool used to do them and I ground them to size for removing sludge trap plugs in British motorcycle crankshafts.

Stahlwille make them, still looking for a supplier though.

I think that they were known as track rod adjusting bits. I think that Snap-on still do them. I’ve got a similar set of three and will have a look in the morning to see who made mine.

Find a old footprint screwdriver and re forge to the size you need for the gibs

I raid my old car boot scrrwdrivers for a big slotted and grind it to suit.
Have a drawer full of tools modified for specific tasks.

I have several huge ones -drag link sockets that is.

I have 3/4 drive one - that is big enough to open a 2" oil drum plug with an air impact wrench.

Proto, Craftsmen, Snap on Stahlwilie & others
Use to use them on / Sprite Midget lower trunion joints & others with that style of king pin assembly
Thinking about it we have a job that uses them on a De-Walt battery impact driver will look at make they take a fair beating

This is just one size they do several, not cheap but it's the right tool for the job

I suppose you could just grind up the end of an old 1/2" extension bar and make a home grown one.
