How is making a tool a hack?

He needs a screw driver for gib PIECE screws
These are 1/2 inch wide plus.
How the hell do you grind a screwdriver and make it wider.
What you do is heat up a draw the metal in to make it wider.
No special tools just a heat source ,hammer and something to use as a anvil.
Everyone has done a quicky to get out of the poo but the op wants something nice.
As for a fully equipped workshop I made that aston body using tree stumps , a machine mart panel beating set and gas welding.
I started with nothing after being made redundant in 2000

surely it depends how wide the screwdriver is, originally?

a cabinetmakers screwdriver is around 25mm x 3mm for at least part of its length.
easily wide enough to be ground down.

Indeed. Usually taper down all faces to the blade.
Lop 5mm off the end and you've got a sizable blade to play with.

Could do me a ghetto one in rebar. 15mmx3mm would be about right. If it's too big I could always grind it down.

A forge is on my bucket list right after get some free time and 100 other projects.

Haven't touched a B&Q kitchen since I've been back in the country and certainly wouldn't work direct for them.
Not a nice company to deal with by all accounts. I fit what the customer wants.

No money in kitchens anyway. Every man and there dog calls themselves a kitchen fitter and is happy to work for peanuts, more profit in bathrooms.

Were all entitled to our opinion mate. They don't always align with others mind.
