Some of the British made ones are really nice but I'm just a wood monkey and they would be a waste on me

Sets seem to make a big saving, I've got a Marples set that I bought many years a go on deal. They do often have deals on and buying the individual would probably cost 3 times what a set costs.

have you seen where they are?....middle of Nowhere/Lincolnshire.........they do make good stuff, if you can get any.....I once tried and I forget how long the waiting list was but I went to Hamlet instead.

Mmm ? 1/2" up to 1" maybe 11/2" max ?
It just for fitting door hinges strike plates etc.
I've got some old "bashers" for general building works and a nice old 1" that my dad had but looking for some good ones.
Also any advice on how to go about sharpening them. I have a Faithful 400 / 1000 grit diamond stone and the clamps but find it hard not to get a rounded edge.

I've found that wood chisels are ideal for removing old lime mortar from the walls of my farmhouse. Aldi were selling a set of 3 for €6 last week so I made sure to pick up a set.
