Malcom, I was away a bit and noticed on the last page you sprayed gibbs on and left it exposed to rain. No, that's not the main intention of that product...it's for indoor storage of metal that it shines at. It's wicked good stuff but not so good that you can let mother nature pee all over it...
It was an accelerated test
The other test is still running. This time the Renault hood is out in the sunshine - it'll get condensation at night, then dry off during the day.
So far after 4 days bare metal is worst, car polish is next worse, and everything else is doing OK. Though notably the gibbs (wiped on thickly but not wiped off) is the best for catching flies, possibly because it's pink. Engine oil is the next best for fly catching. I think that's a bit of leaf in the waxoyl rather than rust.
