That's easy, the bottles go in the bottom, the water gushing in from all the gaps will keep it cool

Seriously thouogh I've been reading this build thread and its great and the only boat I would ever be allowed to pilot has two sets of peddles attached to paddles......
netting bag & beer tins strung out over the side in a long liner arrangement... portside - tins of lager, starboard - tins of 80/... got to stay on an even keel.

To be fair I was a little apprehensive about this project, and it's why I decided to start off with the smallest and therefore cheapest one. When I got the side plates 3/4 of the way on and realised the gap on the port side was never going to close I did have a moment of panic. Thankfully Dad cast an eye over what I'd done and suggested letting the tacks go on the forward compartment and centre seat as well as letting the side plates go and letting it all return to shape.
Although disappointed to be apparently going backward it was 100% the right thing to do. Whilst the boxes were out I cut the full welds that were underneath them back to small tacks (incidentally the build guide said do not fully weld anything until the whole hull is fully tacked out) the hull plates were able to drop into their places in the jig.

Thank you, I intend to cut hatches into the seats and rear bench to accommodate a small coolbox and other bits and bobs you tend to need on a day out, like an anchor, rope, a few fenders and a folding paddle or two for engine woes.
As for trusting your own handiwork, I think having done the lot yourself, you'd know full well if it's good enough for a trip out on a lake/river/calm day on the sea. My family on the other hand, may not share my point of view

I'll definitely take you up on that kind offer. The budget hasn't stretched to a means of propulsion yet.
seagull, now there's a name from the past. The wee creel boat we worked as youngsters had one, rope start, unburstable... can't remember exact size, but no more than a couple of horse...

I was eyeing up a couple of old Seagulls at the boot fair this morning
probably worth a bit now, what did they go for, out of curiosity..
or were they of the feathered variety and went for the chips???

I sold a seagul long shaft runner for 95 quid about 6 months ago, no body wanted it, the yoof dont recognise quality when they see it.
On a more serious note, having worked or played on boats all my life, having also had a couple of near misses.
I would have some kind of additional bouyancy if your opening up the seats, as locker space. Tin boat if it gets swamped dont float.
Almost lost a race boat when I was young when it became swamped. Had we not been taken under tow and the self bailers worked it was going to be a very expensive day out.
