Its in black epoxy primer at the moment, then i will wet flat it and paint it off white the same as the steering box and master cylinder or possibly copper flake, i can't make my mind up yet. It will look better then, thanks,

Really looks like the bluey/black high gloss finish on old fireplaces on my screen.

I had a couple of hours spare today so squirted some top coat on my intake, I'm well pleased how it came out.
The paintshop owner asked me to name the colour so he could store it on the computer system so i called it "moneyshot"

Haha, that's a sign of a perfectionist right there.....they will always claim their work is never 100% done!

Anyway, keep up the good work, i may also need some tips on polishing techniques in the future.

Bit off topic but what's the law on exposed front wheels ie. no mudguards?
I've seen a few without, in the Uk but I thought you had to cover the wheels

This is a very grey area, Its a construction & Use issue, section 15 says that mudgaurds are to be fitted to catch any mud or water flung from the wheels.If its not raining there isn't an offence.
I've driven without them for 20 odd years and only got stopped once and i took it to court and it got thrown out as a waste of court time but it was a sunny dry day

Its also not endorsable and carry's a £20 fine

Been doing engine stuff so not much to show you, but i did get my generator mounted old style out in the wind.

I wanted to use a generator as an alternator looks too new, I had this 55 F100 generaotor laying around and after a quick test to check it was working ok i pulled it apart for cleaning and paint and chrome.

Before I did anything i had to mount it so made up some bracketry.

I thought the fan looked like it needed a guard on it so made up one, I'm still not sure whether i like it or not so it may get changed or modified.

I got pulled up for having wheels that protruded from the arches in a Mini and it failed MOT for the same reason. If a car goes through IVA before registration with arches on, the arches have to stay on, there is no grey area. Exposed rims on a car or motorcycle are a MOT fail whether it's raining or not and are illegal. Cycle wings on a car have to cover the rim and the outer profile of the tyre.
