And when a turbo comes up at the right price that idiot would also be pretty likely to buy it........


So yeah I am

What we have is a Borg Warner S466! This is a big ass T6 flange monster turbo

I reckon running 8psi once the bottom end is rebuilt and ally heads, injection etc it'll push a nice figure but at 3psi I know a ford 429 can put down 513RWHP so this should hopefully be close

8psi arnt you going to need water injection on standed comp ratios

The Polo uses a 32/36 Weber on a modified manifold blow through.

Intercooler should be fine, I'll have to check CR properly before ramping up the boost but at 7.5:1 with ally heads that'd be like running 8.5:1 on iron

I'll work it out when the time comes, for now it'll only be there to make a bit of a cool noise. It also makes my exhaust routing far simpler! And as an added bonus it seems my 440 already has an oil feed ready to use

Specs are as follows
BorgWarner (Schwitzer) S466 Turbocharger
Same 96mm compressor as the 9180 S300SX, but a bigger turbine.

SPECIFICATION-

• Large alloy compressor housing with 4inch ported shroud anti-surge inlet and 2.5inch outlet with T6 twin scroll housing.
• 96mm 7 blade ETT (Extended Tip Technology) compressor wheel capable of 850bhp.
• Heavy duty BorgWarner oil cooled core with 360deg thrust bearing.
• High flow 10 blade 84mm turbine wheel with 73mm exducer 4340 steel shaft.
• 1.4 a/r Twin Scroll T6 turbine housing with 3in (ID) 6 bolt turbine outlet.

I've also picked up a nice concentric release bearing which somehow fits the same PCD as the bearing retainer!

Just going to replace the bolts with studs and make up a spreader plate

Slow process, ended up trading the A833 for a built TCI 727 with high stall TC, cooler pipes etc so I'm ready to go once I buy a new shifter unit. Came with a B&M but I hate the look of it so I've sold it already to get an Outlaw from Summit

Anyway.....

After a full days worth of struggling and manhandling a 727 into place I've managed it, the TC is bolted to the flexplate, the box is bolted up to the block and the gearbox crossmember holes line up nicely with the 727 mounting point.
Tomorrows job is going to be to making up a bracket for the 727 to bolt it into place as the rubber bobbin is a different shape to the Fords though, I'll also try and get the starter fitted and wired up and if I can I should be able to crank it over

I'll also be trying to get the new seat mounts welded in....its coming together now!

I've got it turning over on the starter today so its looking good, going to pick up a ballast resistor tomorrow and then mess with the electrics/fuel to see if I can get it to live!

The Porsche seats or at least the drivers seat is now bolted to half of its bracket too so I can weld it into place in the car once I grab some more 3x2 box tomorrow

Got the new seats in today, little close to the wheel due to the height but a much better driving position overall. A less dished aftermarket wheel and slightly smaller too will solve that issue anyway

I also managed to get the new rear shocks on so I'm slowly ticking things off the to do list before the engine swap part 2! Going to mess with the fuel system tomorrow and start re wiring it/stripping out the dash again.
Decided as I don't use this in winter (much) I don't need the heating and the weight saving will be handy, plus I can always install a vintage air system at a later date.

I'm running autometer gauges for fuel, oil and water so the current pack is useless. There's also a GPS speedo (again autometer) to fit at some point which means that literally nothing but the idiot light for indicators and lights will be needed and I can wire them in to something else anyway

Once thats out the way I can make use of the space and fit my new relay/fuse board in the passenger bulkhead area and think about setting up some cut off system for the battery too

Its been a while since I updated this.......The little mopar is out! And I've dug out my old Caddy badge, it'll look swish on the back of the Torino once its cleaned up

Anyway.........the big caddy fits like a glove. I was beyond ******d off at this point.....wasted so much time with the Mopar when I could have used this!!




First up was a sump swap!

And a damn good thing too considering I found out that the oil pick up pipe was missing! The guy who sold me the engine originally said everything was there and it definitely isn't. Thankfully the engine hasn't been run since I bought it and sold it to my mate before getting it back.......that would have been real bad!

Anyway I got the sump on and proceeded to try and drop it into the car, it fitted nicely between the rails but the sump itself has had to be cut and shut to get it even closer to the firewall

Looks like it might be a tight fit?

And what's more annoying than finding out the Cadillac fits perfectly with the stock manifolds and starter?
Finding out that it's about three inches of steel off being able to bolt onto the original ford mounts FFS. Should have used this first

Removing the rear heater hose port and swapping in the plug from the front allowed me to get the engine even further back in the bay and to a position where its actually further back than the 351C was!

Use the brake booster/wiper motor as a reference and you'll see how much its moved. It does mean I'll have to make up a new trans crossmember too

500 mounts adapted to the ford mounts.... all thats missing now is the sump pickup and sump itself, its been cut but not re welded

I also bought the missing Cadillac PAS system and can get an adaptor to fit it to the ford pipe

A CDS crossmember for the Torino's gearbox was also made up, yes I know its necked a bit.....still plenty strong enough though

My Kilduff shifter also arrived from the states
