Buy everything you need to make them ,try following a recipe and I believe it will be quite nicer than whatever you are going to buy at the supermarket.Anyone like to make any recommendations? For quite a while, we've been buying an M&S pizza - very nice if a bit expensive.... but they've changed it and not quite so good now.
I picked one up at random during a flying visit to Tesco - terrible! Certainly don't live on pizzas, but there are times when (a good one) ticks a box. Too far out of town to get deliveries.
We’ve got a barbecue top pizza oven, we love making our own dough and doing home made pizzas (when the weather isn’t quite so cold!). They work ok in the oven too if you get it really hot. I like the way you can make them as thin/thick as you like. Lidl used to do jars of nduja spicy pork paste on their Italian weeks but haven’t had any for a while. I ended up getting a jar from Amazon!! It’s amazing on pizzas, I tend to lash it into anything really as I love itWhen the kids were younger, we used to get the basic ham and cheese pizza from the supermarket, and they would raid the fridge and make up their own on that base, it was good fun, and some weird concoctions were tried.... All good, doesn't have to cost much, and it only takes the time for the oven to come up to temperature.
The eldest still does it now when she has her pals round to her flat.... Cheap grub...
Well, there is an italian company which makes 'supermarket pizzas' , they are not so far from my home . They are well known but I'm not sure under which brand they are imported in uk . They produce classic tastes and also some 'custom made ones' for every country , they are called RONCADIN , they do sell all over the world .
Here they are :
Roncadin: pizzas and tasty snacks | Italian Food Excellence
Roncadin at Meduno, in the province of Pordenone, was founded in 1992 with a precise goal, consisting in producing quality Italian pizza for large-scalewww.italianfoodexcellence.com
Cheers
Had one of these a few weeks ago…, oh my giddy aunt!!
I did tell myself never again but then…. hey, the second can’t be as bad as the first….surely?
Fortunately it looks like they’re discontinued so maybe I’ll never find out.
Lidl sourdough ones are very good, Tesco chilli king prawn ones are fabulous!
I had the worst pizza I ever tasted in Rimini, the base was inedible due to the amount of salt in the dough, all the others I had whilst I was there were great thoughYou Sirs are so intoxicated by fake pizzas that maybe you could not like a real one , I mean a real italian pizza , made in a real italian restaurant based in Italy ( hey , 2 hours by plane and you are in Rome , why not spending a weekend eating a great pizza while admirating the Coliseum ? Or maybe in Naples ? )
Onion ?? Garlic ??????? My goodness
Just joking , I'm italian ...

I saw that feature and was trying to remember which program it was to post on here. If its the same one he was at the biggest pizza factory in the country making for most of the supermarkets and it was just outside Edinburgh somewhere (Bonnyrigg maybes) never heard of them before but they did have an Italian sounding name and colours.I remember watching a TV programme (I think it's called "Inside the Factory" or something like that) which showed a pizza factory in Italy making pizzas for UK supermarkets, and it was probably that one. I must admit I was surprised - I figured that if I read the small print on the box of the cheapo supermarket pizza it'd be made in Slough or somewhere, I didn't imagine they'd actually come from there.
I've always had the basic Tesco pizzas, for £2.50 last time I looked. Pretty crude, but every time I eat one I remember when daughter and me used to regularly eat Dominoes..... 'two for Tuesday' special offer, so half price, and still outrageously expensive for a pizza. No pizza is worth £20++ I don't care how good it is.Anyone like to make any recommendations? Ah, it would have been around last October when I bought one. I can eat very hot stuff and that was up there among the hottest things I’ve ever tried, possibly even the very hottest.I have a supermarket pizza once a week, and I'm struggling a bit to find a decent one, so it's interesting to see what others think. All the ones I have now are fine, but no better than that. Aldi used to do a "Carlo's American Hot" pizza which was lovely, I'd usually try to keep three in stock, but they've stopped doing them now - they assure me it's only temporary, but it's been a few months now. I tried an "Italian Hot" from somewhere else (Iceland probably) but it wasn't as good. I was given a bag of frozen chillies and a jar of dried ones recently, so I've been sticking a bit extra on to pizzas to try to spice them up a bit.

They're not discontinued, they're a seasonal product. I didn't realise it the first time I saw them, but they're a promotion tied to Hallowe'en, hence the "scarily" bit.
I bought two of those a couple of years ago, cooked one, started eating it, and oh, wow. You guys that are used to eating very hot chillies probably wouldn't bat an eyelid*, but these are exactly as they say on the box. I thought "well, it's a supermarket pizza for a couple of quid, it's not going to be all that spicy, maybe just a bit spicier than the pepperoni ones", but it is. Much, much more. Thing is, every October I buy a couple, even though I know that they are a bit too much for me. Now I cook one, leave it to cool down for 5-10 minutes and eat it slowly, in contrast to the first time when I just shoved it down and had to deal with the hot cheese as well.
Maybe sometime I'll make my own, but it sounds like a lot of work as there's only me eating it. I'm still reeling in awe at how much better a pizza cooked in the oven is than the same pizza cooked in a microwave.
( * Just noticed who I'm quoting there, suddenly I don't feel quite so bad. )
Domino’s pizzas are like their adverts….****e…..Best pizzas from around here are/were from roccos, then a few mile away from that, noonas. far beyond any domino's pizza they're like eating a sweaty sock.
We visited the states many years ago, wife family, and we're taken to a world famous pizza restaurant in New York, tucked under the Brooklyn bridge. Apparently famous people queued to get in, it was the best pizza in the US... etc etc...+1 for the Lidl “fancy” ones. The sourdough ones are very good.
Best I’ve had were in Italy, I worked near Turin for a couple of months and ate at a local pizzeria quite regularly. The old lady didn’t speak English and my Italian wasn’t great but the food was superb
Me and wifey absolutely love pizza, we have it at least once a week.we also have a mobile food van with a wood fired oven that comes around to various locations near us on different says - our closest is on a Tuesday evening so we quite often grab a couple of their pizzas after picking my daughter up from her dance class. They do proper Italian style ones, cooked in about 2 mins with thin but puffy dough and not smothered in toppings - just right.
Can you tell we like pizza , my 10yo daughter is a fanatic as am I - Although my lad who’s 6 won’t touch any form of pizza!!
It’s Bonnis pizza which operates around north wales - I won’t post a link but you can find them if you search - well worth checking out these if you like pizza, they knock domino’s or other chain restaurants out of the park!
