I bought my GF one of the Samsung B2100 tough phones as she was going through phones every few months though dropping them and carelessness. It has survived her abuse so when my one & only touch screen phone stopped working I bought myself the newer model Samsung, the B2710.

It has survived being dropped onto concrete floors, into puddles but still works. It's a simple phone to use & you can buy them for around £30 on fleabay. There are a few cool videos on youtube of people testing the Samsung tough phones including hitting them with a golf club!

ive got a nokia I found in a dustbin. put me simcard in it charged it up and it works fine its been dropped loads of times and it fell in the bog and I peed on it washed it put it on the heater and its still going strong

Good job phones don't have any true intelligence. Could just imagine that one calling out autonomously one day and dropping you in it, whilst thinking "I'll teach you to not to pee on me you b******".

Try the land rover phone if you want tough and good battery life.
I'm sure it was something like 15000 hours between charges. Obviously less if used a lot.
I left mine in a full water butt overnight after dropping it in a bucket of plaster I was mixing with a drill and it worked perfectly after.
I ended up swapping jobs ave needed email capabilities so had to sell it.

Like the look of this one. Seemingly designed by a British company. They also made the JCB tough phone. Not got a clue what Android Marshmallow is!

I don't understand how people smash their iPhones, I have had a new one on contract every 2 years since the iPhone 3 and all of them have been passed onto friends in working, if slightly worn condition.
My current iPhone was dropped 12ft out of a ceiling void as I fumbled the torch function, it hit a rung of my step ladder, bounced off the floor and skittered about 10ft down a corridor and survived OK.
Just to add none of my phone's ever have any protectors fitted to them either.
I suspect alot of phones are broken because people (girls in particular) carry their phones in their back pockets and sit on them.

I cracked mine diagonally by having it in my jeans front pocket and bending over!!

I find the newer I phones to large to put in front pocket when constantly crouching down and lifting, rolling under vehicles etc, wouldnt last me a week thats for sure. but I would like the versatility they offer !! Arther

Phone arrived, first impression nice grippy feel in the hand , although straight away went to text and found the small buttons not so good as they are hard slippery plastic, screen has a led back light which is usefull as quite bright, connects ok indoors on my sim card, same as my nokia did, also my smsung but others wont, so phone seems to get good signal, one thing I really dont like is the ring tone, its like the music of a old pre talky movie dating to 1930 maybe, and you cant seem to change it, will get one of my brothers to see if they can blue tooth me something if thats possible, they are more "techie" than I am.(thankfully)
So thats first impressions, certainly seems rugged enough , will let you know how i get on in a week or so after using it day to day basis. It does have dual sim, I do find this usefull as I normally use a second phone when I put something for sale, say on ebay, that way you can keep your "own" no. private for family etc if you want. Right been using the phone all week, its a bit off a brick, but certainly feels comfortable in the hand to use, everyone I have phoned reckons its crystal clear voice wise, and certainly on the recieving end its the best I have had yet, and I have had quite a few, loverly and clear as if they were stood next to you, so gets five stars on that, battery, well I have used it a fair bit and its now gone down to one bar from 4, and I didnt charge it when I got it, saying that havent used it on internet as changing my contract for that to be included. did drop it when passing it to some one who wanted a look , no problem.
So all in all although a bit heavy,but yes for forty quid I am well pleased with it, I think the only other option at that sort of price to get better screen size would be a old iphone 4s model, but you then gamble on the battery being naf as old second hand model, and of course you (or I) would need indestructable case.bit fiddly on the buttons but used to that already. gets signal every where I go ,on the tesco 02 network.prefer it to the now oversize iphone type now fashionable, I find them to big.
Gets the thumbs up from me for a cheap rugged useable phone with great quality audio,if thats the right word! could nt find a thumbs up icon! Arther

Yup, nice one. stopped in local chippy , middle aged guy stood next to me started to chat whilst waiting for order about his new iphone, b,,,y fantastic you can do...blah blah, I run a haulage firm..then he was trying to call some one, now he was on o2, no signal, got my old nokia on o2 out ,full signal, so yes he said only trouble is its useless at getting signal, no one can ever get hold of me, at that chap shouts out my chip order, so as I walked by him just said, doesnt bode well for your business does it, no contact no haulage, he grimmaced.

Samsung solid the newer one, used to be a Nokia man but broke too many. It's my first Samsung solid, two years now, battery lasts a week, not a smart phone, wife has one, It's solid my solid. I rate them.

Just googled it, looks a really good phone, just a bit dearer than my aldi £40 cheapo though ! I like you rate having a battery that lasts more like 7 days rather than 1 day if you are lucky. Arther

My iPhone gets dropped and abused, not broke it yet and my upgrade is due on the 17th (watch me smash it this week )

Mrs Kayos has smashed the screen on most of hers, I'm pretty good at swapping them as a result

only problem with iphone cheap screens is the proximity sensors don't work unless you modify the glass slightly

Who said anything about cheap screens? A decent one (or two) is still waaaay cheaper than a new phone, or even the insurance for that matter
