Aldi mobile phones

I've had a mobile since they were small enough to fit in a (large) pocket and mainly use it for phone calls & the odd text message. What really annoys my friends & family is I only switch it on when I go out of the house and turn it off when I get back in as I have a perfectly good landline while I'm home.

The landline has been my excuse for years: "People can leave a message and I'll ring them back, as folk have managed fine with for years", has always been my response when the subject came up. I did have a Nokia for a brief while years ago, but soon stopped using that when I realised that people will phone you on a mobile for the most inconsequential things, and usually when you're upto your armpits in something, rather than just leaving a message and talking to you at a more opportune time. Mobiles seem to engender impatience in a lot of people. Only reason I've finally given in is because it may be beneficial to have one on occasion.

Just in case anyone was still thinking on buying the aldi workzone mobile, when I bought mine it was £40, my brother in law tried mine ,liked it ,as I was in romsey checked to see if they had any left, typical they have been reduced to just £30 !!! so there you go, check your local store.
Still getting on fine with mine, use it a lot battery lasts over a week, and great sound quality. Arther

Well picked one up for brother in law,£30. and the protective film was removed from screen, fully working and no marks,so maybe someones return eh? he is well chuffed with it, still very pleased with mine for £40.Arther

Possibly may have been a return then. I love mine. Lovely bit of kit. Simple, robust and functional. What more can one ask. Plus, I have loads of tunes on the memory card in it now, so it's like my portable music machine too. On that point, going back to the thing you mentioned about the basic ringtomes, you can use a music, (mp3), file as the ringtone on these. Connect it to the USB port on the computer, dump some files in the 'My Music' folder, and you can select those as ringtones plus also access them through the inbuilt audio player for playback.

Really glad you are pleased, same as me I find it robust and straight forward, managed to change ring tone ok,but will get some one to down load music, thats great. thanks. next step is to get a tom tom...anyone know where to get the best deal? better start a new thread. Arther

Battery life is extremely impressive too. The not too long sessions when I keep hooking mine up to the computer to transfer files to it are practically enough to keep the battery fully charged. I think I've only connected the actual charger once whilst I've had it. When I see the eldest and our Gert practically charging theirs daily, it makes me appreciate how little these use on the battery front. Btw, I did actually go and buy a second one the other week as a backup, just incase owt happens to this one, so you can tell how attached I've become to it.

p.s: I've set the specific ringtone for our lass to: "Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman". Was tempted to go with: "Space - Female of the Species", but thought it best to keep on her good side.

I bought a cheap 32gig iphone 4s, £30 had it a couple of years now and got another 16 gig one with a broken screen to play with. Fitted a £10 ebay screen and my wife has been using it for ages no problem with the proximity sensor. I fitted new batteries for £5 each and they last about 3 days in normal use now. They have both been dropped a few times and not caused any problems. I picked another one up for spares, cracked screen and faulty on off button but repaired it and put a 3 sim in to unlock it and it works perfectly. They seem rugged enough for our use and she uses the maps.me app for work delivering car parts. I used to think I wouldn't use one enough to warrant the full price but they are addictive. If I see a 5s for not too much money I would be tempted to try one just to compare to the 4s. I made my own ring tone from Phoenix nights, it says " Can year me now" like Paddy and Max

Pedrobedro, well good on you, wish I could mend phones I would be tempted to do the same,I prefer the "old" smaller I phones, as to me they are more useable as in when working /bending/lifting less likely to snap them.
I did try a samsung smart phone for a short while, used it no problem, but to have to make sure you have a charger in your van, charge every day, no couldnt put up with that.Arther
