OK thanks guys..now I've seen a 'metal frame' version on EBAY for £147.00 is this worth the extra?? I do like the idea of one.... but not sure what I would make??

Would I be better paying more for a better one straight away??

Having got to grips with mine I have decided I need 2 more !
Another one of similar build volume for all the 'little' jobs that mount up when I am printing a multi part project and a BIG one (bigger build volume) for the prints I want to do that won't fit in my current printer.
I have found that 3d builder in windows 10 is very useful for splitting parts that are too big but its a pita having to do it...

So I guess I am gonna have to save up a bit .

Blue glow in the dark PLA for the skull. 'Gold' for the horns (doesn't look gold to me although it has a nice metallic sheen).

In the dark after charging it for 10 mins under a desk lamp.

I really had to mess with my temperature settings to get the glow in the dark to print properly. I used a stainless steel nozzle as the internet told me several times that glow in the dark filament is very abrasive.

Nozzle temp 215c bed temp 75c NO cooling, usually I print Nozzle 195-200c and bed 60c full cooling but at the lower temperatures this stuff just would not stick. The higher temps and no cooling gave other issues the first 5mm or so was very soft almost like printing with flexible filament, this meant I had to slow the print speeds down by a 3rd. It took 4 attempts just to get the raft to stick, then another 3 attempts to get the start of the model to stick to the raft. However the supports for this came away really easily and there is no noticeable scarring from where the supports joined the model. The skull has a really silken sheen to it and it looks AWESOME!!!

drag and drop multiple times?

Best way for multiple copies: right click on model, multiply selected model, enter number of copies, hit ok, job done.

Copy mulitple models by holding down 'shift' and selecting each model to copy then same procedure as above.

^^^^ Also how you manipulate multiple models on the build plate. Can be helpful in filling in gaps on plate or if you know surface is slightly sketchy in one spot you can avoid it. Can also resize and rotate etc as a group this way.

Haven't had a play doing the CAD 3d for nearly five months .. opened up the Fusion 360 to play and total blank ……………. brain whiter than a cinema screen .

I had to spend a couple of hours running back over some of Lars live videos . What's that old saying , "Use it or lose it " … it obviously applies to the brain as well

I just purchased the anet8 plus can anyone tell me the frame that holds the extruder is supposed to be bent at 90 degrees this one is bent at an angle making it hard to set the nozzle height thanks for any and all info

i can't help as i don't have a standard a8, and it was changed before i bought it.
but, i would be surprised if it *isn't* supposed to be a right angle.

in other news, just spent 110 quid on a genuine e3d v6 + "volcano" upgrade.
should arrive tomorrow.
hope it fits, since i cant print anything to make it fit. :-(

first print from the new hot end:

used e3d's recommended settings: .6mm layer height, 80mm/s.

made an interesting "wicker basket" effect.


its *very* strong though.
much more solid feeling than previous prints.

its got a very "ghost ship" vibe








i need to tweak the retraction - first was at 6.5mm (!) down to 0.5mm

nozzle temp is 200c, down from 215c, speed down to 60m/s, and layer height to 0.6mm

it's still *incredibly* strong though.
