Strangely enough I live round the corner from Motorworks in Holmfirth and know a couple of guys there who would have saved them for me if I knew.
I use them as my main source of parts: had photo's of my R75/5 in their calendar twice in the last 5 years. I tried them, Motobins, James Sherlock as well as a general search.Strangely enough I live round the corner from Motorworks in Holmfirth and know a couple of guys there who would have saved them for me if I knew.
From his place you could do-the North of Scotland in a good day, if theroads were not full of camper vans and European bikes! How long you touring for Rannsachair? camping or rooms?
Camper vans and caravans are fair game when on my bike European bikers i really enjoy interacting with as they always seem friendly and are very bike savvy, they like a good drink tooFrom his place you could do-the North of Scotland in a good day, if theroads were not full of camper vans and European bikes!
Airbnb, my body has a fair bit damage, so am too old for tents. I am doing a tour of old friends, plan is Newcastle then up the Fife coast, over to Dundee, Abedeen, Turriff, Burghead, Inverness, Thurso and depending on timing, back down the West Coast. ( A friend in Abedeen has recently moved to Newcastle adding some foreign travel.)How long you touring for Rannsachair? camping or rooms?
Sounds like a great ride that one...enjoy and ride safeAirbnb, my body has a fair bit damage, so am too old for tents. How do you rate the other suppliers? I’ve built some prototype touring gear/kit for the R9T as no one does ‘real’ luggage for them that’s not compromised but as yet I’m not sure how I want to promote or sell the stuff that’s why I asked.I use them as my main source of parts: had photo's of my R75/5 in their calendar twice in the last 5 years. Foreign travel……wave when you pass my place!Airbnb, my body has a fair bit damage, so am too old for tents. I have used them all, Sherlocks postage limits my use of them. Service from Motoworks is excellent, Motobins pretty good too. Have recently tried Nippy Normans who seem to have a good reputation. How do you rate the other suppliers? Only too happy to call in @slim_boy_fat , hope to visit @zeppelin builder tooIf your schedule allows, give me a shout, doesn't take long to boil the kettle. If you can avoid the plethora of current potholes, the Struie road over the hill is worthwhile.
Rannsachairs model, hopefully got the same soul as mine, just better at everything.@Morrisman So what would be the better version? I know what you mean about owning something for so long. It’s part of one of your family members in a fashion.
I bought a 1994 Orange P7 mountain bike in 1995 and still have it to this date amongst others I own. It breaks my heart to sell it as it’s been with me for over half my existence even though it hasn’t been used in yonks.
@Rannsachair why all the way from Germany as they are readily available here?
That's where I get all my parts, very good service.Strangely enough I live round the corner from Motorworks in Holmfirth and know a couple of guys there who would have saved them for me if I knew.
A few folk said the hex head was the best buy, nicer power delivery than the earlier bikes and more serviceable than the newer LC bikes.Rannsachairs model, hopefully got the same soul as mine, just better at everything.
Think it is, that’s why I got the last generation as fitted in the R9T as it was like a brand new revival of the best air cooled motor. Only thing I would have liked is telelever.A few folk said the hex head was the best buy, nicer power delivery than the earlier bikes and more serviceable than the newer LC bikes.

How many miles did you put on it?I'm seriously thinking of buying something just like that in the very near future. A reasonable chunk of inheritance should be coming my way, so a new (to me) bike could well happen. Problem is, I like my ancient 1100r so much I can't think what I'd change it for, so why not just get a newer, better version of the same bike.
In just the last 2 months I've fitted new tyres, new brake pads, new rear disc and a new seat, so I'm loathe to sell or trade it, as it's got no real retail value, 100,000 miles, 26 years old etc. I'll probably keep it, for old times sake, but then I'd be stuck for space for two bikes....

I still have the first specialised I brought for myself when I was 15 and my P7 it’s not as old as yours but I will never get rid of mine either@Morrisman So what would be the better version?
