I made a rod for my own back really with the spacing, I'd say it needed easily another mm on what I started with. I assume when you're talking about filling from the inside that relates to being right handed? Although I can weld with both I'm a lot neater with the left.

I'm working on lowering the cap and tidying up the filler passes, for the moment though the instructor was just happy to see the movements are all there ascend he is sure the rest will come. Each piece I do is getting gradually better as I'm not having to think so much about it.

Managed a decent 2G today though before I left, gutted that I forgot to bring my TIG finger as it really would come in handy, I'm having to adopt "the most comfortable uncomfortable position" to find a decent prop

No I'm talking about putting your filler through the root gap at the top of the pipe right through to the pool at the bottom. So your melting it in the root on the back side. You can do this any handed. Works great until the pipe closes and nips the rod so be generous with the gap.

Hmm....haven't tried that but have seen it once on a video of titanium pipe, seemed to work well for him. One of the issues I was having was my filler hand being where my head wanted to be so that could certainly help.

Ill make sure to give myself a generous gap tomorrow and see how it

Give it a go. Everyone is different on how best to position yourself. 5/6G pipe I find is most comfortable on the 1st 1/4 with my feed arm above the pipe feeding vertically down trough the root gap. Once you strike up you'll open up the keyhole and you'll see where your filling from the face side so it won't seem any different.

Quite possibly is, but I was quite restricted to where I could go.

Had a couple of pops at 5G today, found it easier than 2G oddly enough. Struggled getting the root pass in though. Starting at 6 o'clock makes it difficult but I'm sure it will come with practice.

Had a go at feeding from the inside @Richard. Didn't go so well to begin with but started getting it eventually. I think I need to focus more on finding a good position for the torch hand as I never felt 100% relaxed (more like 10%) but again I think it will come with practice.

First attempt at 6G. Slowly getting used to using my right hand on the torch but It still feels like going to bed with boots on
