It's miles better with that prepped top bow on it mate.Skills
You can slide the top clamp back and forth a few mm before tightening to allow for thicker and thinner plate for a tighter bend but that's it.I take it there is no adjustment on that bender for thickness of material and bend radius?
It's a good question. Having not used this shear before it's gonna be an educated guess. Certainly the part of the sheet on the left side as your cutting is gonna remain flat as that stays on the sheer base. The excess you are cutting off on the right side will be going under the base and I would say in a curve going downwards. I don't think the curve is going to be abrupt enough to prevent you simply pulling it back by hand but until I actually try it I cannot say for sure. Your in luck though as I've got 3 tasty sheets of 2mm Alu so just for you I'll try it out and tell you what it does for sure. Personally I think it's gonna be great for that task with any distortion been easy to re deflect by hand.@Richard. quick question on the shear you may not be able to answer, but anyway being much more experienced in aluminium than i - do you think this type of shear would distort say a 2mm plate of ally if you were say making a 500mm x 500mm tank? as you know ally doesnt like to flex and come back like steel, do you think the the difference between the upper part and lower part of the throatless bit will be enough to bend a sheet of ally out of shape? its one of the mail reasons im considering one. i know you may not have the answer until you try but i thought id ask!

(p.s where are you purchasing from, direct?) i havent priced around, im sure theyre all the same. i think i might just go ahead anyway, i need one regardless, and for the extra 65 quid or whatever over the frost one, im going to head for the mps1
Don't expect me to be doing a review any time soon on it
Every surface in the garage at the mo is just covered in water cooler parts lol.
Ideally needs bolting down but I can ask. You never know.Kitchen worktop?
We shall see how well I can follow a curved line.
Cheers P I'll let yas know the verdictIt helps if you are left handed, nice steady movement dont try to rush the cut, having it solidly mounted makes a lot of difference.
I replaced mine with a sealey straight cutting one which has stood up to a surprising amount of abuse considering what it cost,
