What I will be doing is research on what blades do fit it and spend my hard earned cash with companies that will supply. I know Eastwood, WSN and frost all make a version of the throatless b1 shear. It's just a matter of working out if the blades are compatible with them all and working out who can get me them when I want them at a reasonable price. I don't want things for naff all but I don't want my eyes tearing out either.

No worries. It's still at home so measured with a tape and without my glasses but should give you a good idea. I could measure itmore accurately but am away tomorrow so would be next week.
Bottom blade: 100 x 33 x 7mm
Top blade: 125 x 23 x 8mm. 3 screws 40mm apart and front screw is 17.5mm from the front.

You are an absolute gent mate. If I could click like a hundred times I would. I'll not know till tomorrow when I'm home but I'll have a measure up and if it's somewhere near I'll get a set ordered from frost. Just checked there web site the have em in stock for £40.
Some companies obviously want repeat custom. Should of bought the frost shear really. Oh well. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Yeah that's right As far as I know you can. i don't know how that applies to something that has clearly been used though. Not sure?? This now has small marks on the blades and scratches on paint from sharp sheets edges. Does that still apply?? I don't know tbh.Why won't they let you return it? I thought you could return anything within 28 days for any reason?

I'd say no. There's nothing wrong with the machine. Just their attitude.

Machine not fit for purpose. The blades have chipped cutting within it's stated capacity.
Falsely advertised. Backup & warranty falsely advertised.
They have a large following on instagram. I'd be half tempted to share some pictures of the shear and their replies. You'll soon have a refund mate.

Yup only takes one bad apple in the barrel. To be honest if the outfit over here are Bailiegh and not just importers then it doesn't surprise. The yanks truly beleive there is nothing past their boarders, they'll bend over backwards to help customer in the states, anywhere else, you can just do one.

Yes mate you make a valid point. Its a total p### take that they expect me to stump up ridiculous amounts of cash to ship something that fits in your pocket or wait 4 months for it to turn up. (Must be coming via rowing boat)

I'm not bothered about the chips in the lower blade. They are so tiny and it was over a shed load of stainless steel on its top capacity so it's expected. It's not effecting its performance and they have a long way to go before they are chuck away . My point is they are gonna be chucked away at some point and a company that sells the shear should be interested in the wear parts business.

Well at the moment no but I cannot predict the future maker.
I'm one of these people that doesn't wait for it to break before I order. I keep spares and wear parts for most of my stuff that is practical. It's just like only having one saw blade on your bandsaw. Chances are it's gonna last a while but if it does snatch in the cut and break you are screwed . If u keep a spare like I do it's handy to fit your spare and reorder. This is how I do things and I want a spare blade for my shear. I don't want to and don't feel I should have to wait 4 months. If mine cracks tomorrow for any reason I'm without it for 1/4 of a year. Not good enough.

there is nothing there to say you cant use them you used them and found when using then with in normal operation the blades have chiped with only a few cuts and there for not fit for perpouse (cant spell you know what i mean)
say as you have had them for only 14 days under the dsr rules you will be send them back for a refund (you poss can cheak in to this as i think you only have to say you want to return them under 14 days is there responceable for any shipping cost)
with luck you paided by credit card this will help in getting them to refund first call say you have a problem with the unit and you are requesting a return if they refuse ask for there name and ext number ask to be put on to there superviser say the same to them aagin no responce name and ext number ask for manager same again
if the phone call get you no where send a recoreded letter comfirming you intent to return the item as per you phone call dated names ext numbers you only have to say you want to return in the 14 days not return the item in the 14 days
it may even worth calling trading standards say you have been in contact say you have had a problem and they are not willing to do any thing before your phone call i i think they give a referance number that you can provide to the company when you phone them
if its not easy going call you creidt card company and ask for a charge back you can only do this when you can get exuahuted all other avenues they refuse to refund and will not do any thing else the credit card company will reverse the payment you will get your money and you thenhave to make the item avablible for pickup think it might be 3 months (they cant just turn up any time but can just say the 12th a van driver will pickup if he does not turn up thats all you need to do you might get a free set of shears)
ps its in your faver they have got to prove there not faulty not you prove they are are faulty in the first 6 months
