I find it's much more satisfying to print stuff you've designed yourself, especially if it's functional bits for the workshop.
Is it possible to reduce the length of an object in one direction using bambu studio.
@Onoff lads showed me how to do it uniform or non uniform but I need the width increasing at a bigger % than ghe length.
I reduced the length by 5mm on the object but it played havoc with the threads (they go tight)
I need to take 5mm of the one end not both.

I received the file but he won't look at it until tomorrow pm. Doing a nightshift at the mo.
I am back on the reducing this object.
I am confused about being able to take a slice out. I know when Jake imported it to fusion he was able to slice it as on off sent me the video.
Problem I have is it's not quite as simple resizing the large file as there is a thread on the end and a much finer thread inside to hold the ballast/weight.
But thanks to Jake I could use bambu studio to resize uniformly . So that gives me a diameter i need.
I just need to slice out 22mm of the long body. BUT when I save it in bambu studio as a 3mf it's opens in Fusion as a mesh that I cant edit it appears.
I can only assume the step file is opened in bambu studio but is altered when saving.
I guess the solution is to resize AND take a 22mm slice out in Fusion?

I have searched for 3D printed spool holders but they rarely list the dimensions instead they say which spool its for .
The reason I am having so much of an issue with this is it has two threads.. and its got 3 parts.
All I need is it to be 68mm in diameter and 68 mm in length .
BUT between when I .posted it and now I have been asked to do things that include getting a heating engineer to sort my dads boiler . sort out a drill wall plugs and set of drills to match. Collect my wife from here dads and them take her down the town to get my grandson some tracky bottoms for PE at school. and take the meter readings.
No wonder I cant get anything done myself and cant concentrate for more than 5 minuter.
This is the measurements.
The reason the length is critical (could actually be shorter) is because of fitting in the AMS.
The diameter is obvious to fit in the spools.
I decided on 68 as its easy to remember and it's fits both directions.

Spindle. Not usable yet as the threads need offsetting to prevent them binding. Hence no Fusion file yet.

Is the keyway in the cap significant? I'm assuming that is where the spool gets mounted. The thread in the caps is M60x5.5 with the threads reduced by.15 for clearance, so it needs a cap generating with that slot, or more sensibly a fixed cap at the ends. I may have run out of time for today.

Test this design for thread compatibility...
I've given up trying to get cardboard reel holders to work in the Bambu, as they always seem to jam at some point.
Instead I've printed all the bits for this - https://makerworld.com/en/models/98832
I might get it assembled this weekend, as I have a few new filament reels that I could do with re-winding onto old plastic reels.

My lad changed the stock 0.4mm nozzle on the X1C Bambu to a "Hardended Steel vs E3D 0.4mm High Flow ObXidian" (one of his Chrimbo pressies):
Did a couple of "torture" test prints. They go from 15 mm³/s to 35 mm³/s. New nozzle on the left, stock one on the right:
Printed in Bambu Lab PLA Basic Green.
It really puts some volume down and smoothly too!
A cut away of the new nozzle shows how the filament gets "pooled" then extruded through 2 (maybe 3?) channels to massively up the flow rate by something like 60%.

The keyway / slot is just to tighten it after you fill it with dead batteries or sand etc.
The large thread is so you can move the weight to another spool.
