That's brilliant. I learned a lot from the exercise anyway, not sure if my final version suited but it was interesting regardless.

One little thing though, somehow the timeline ended up vertical down the left, rather than along the bottom?

As Misterg says getting the correct place to measure is tricky. Well to me it is anyway.

When my lad is off shift I'll WhatsApp you and you can shadow him on your pc and draw something so I he can explain how to pick points etc.

Yes, that puzzled me a little, too:

What has happened is that your operations were done in 'Direct Modelling' mode - I suspect that F360 defaults to this when it opens a .step file or similar (as opposed to its 'normal' Parametric mode).

The items on the left are just a sequence of operations, not a true parametric timeline. Once done, most of these can't be changed - you will find that you can only edit a very small number of options, thus the need to keep adding operations to change the geometry.

In the 'normal' parametric timeline across the bottom, as you probably know, you can edit, change, rewind, insert and move operations around at any stage in the design.

You can switch back to Parametric mode by selecting 'Capture Design History', but you can't convert one into the other:

Probably a better habit (if solid files are needed for any reason) is to insert .step files etc. into a design, rather than using F360 to open / edit them directly.

I can't think of any reason why anyone would intentionally use 'Direct Modelling' mode (there is an argument that it is less computationally intensive, but even for fairly complex designs on 'normal' computers I don't think there is any issue whatsoever with computing power).

I am still trying to find time to set it printing. I had one from a week ago I set printing in the night but it did not print how I expected.... I wanted to try your this morning and my Dad wanted his hair cut and his boiler had stopped working again.
I often try and help people on things I am still learning (everything) so I can get a focus on start to finish. Spurs me on.

So I am glad you learnt something. I think I have learnt a lot. First up is to sell all my printers and stuff and just retire like an old codger. I hoped 2025 would be a turning point....well in a way it has but its all downward so far.

I just had a sectioned view showing - turn 'Analysis' on and off from the tree on the left - it doesn't affect the model, just your view of it (if you see what I mean - sorry for any confusion!)

As per PM: You will have to export each part separately to print it (as far as I know).

I was confused...BUT I have learnt a big lesson from that.

And knowing Ineed to export each part on its own will be a massive learning point.
Bambu handy spoils you something rotten. Most models come plated up. I knew this wasn't but I only exported it while feeling depressed....and the fact it was a full.model cheered me up no end.

Stop being so negative! You are an intelligent guy (for a socialist ) and you have clearly got a lot on your plate which stops you absorbing much at the moment. I have the comparative luxury of sitting in my play room most of the day and so probably absorb things a little faster. Either way, we will all help and support you, just as you would for anyone else.

I suffer similar setbacks too, after days of patiently checking my PCB design, I submitted it for production. Yesterday I found a little niggle of a label in the wrong place; today I found major errors so have had to redesign and pay for another set of boards to be made. It's not so much the money, as the fortnight plus waiting for them. I have had them done in a different colour to hopefully prevent me picking up the faulty boards for use!

Yeah a bit up and down currently.. My son is part of it as he has been struggling getting his GTR sorted. It's been away almost 2 years now.
He purchased a Honda civic estate and it needed shocks so he got some cheap ones that clonked and squeaked.
Ebay seller being awkward about sending them back and he's just sold the car 30 mins ago..........I feel much better now. A lot of people would say stop worrying he is 33 which is true but still not easy to bury my head in the sand........I have to go to my Dads most days to.put his shoes on and sort his ulcerated legs out etc etc. Now he has a duff boiler and I have spent much of the last 4 days on the phone trying to get his boiler fixed with out of hours housing association and call centers being awkward.

Well what da ya know. I finally got what I needed. Sort of chuffed even though others did all the hard work.
I found I could separate fusion.parts that I did not know you could do.
Although I can't even design the parts separately I am intrigued how it's done.

Yeah I know running before I can walk.

Anyway I am back on the Tea potion cup again now I can get the AMS working......in the morning.

I am intrigued how it's done.

Just FYI: You can re-create it step by step in the parametric file (with the timeline at the bottom) - drag the history marker back to the left (with your mouse) and examine each operation to see what it does (you will need to make sketches visible as you advance the marker). Double click on the operations to open them up and see what they did.

Double click on the sketch icon in the timeline, and you get back to the dimensions (which you can change if you want to modify the design):

Drag the marker forward one operation...

Etc...

It's not quite "think of a mod and print it" but it works for us here. It's pretty much make a tweak, have a cuppa whilst it's printing and it's ready to try.

Still don't know if I'm happy about the waste steam created by 3D printing...

It's not quite "think of a mod and print it" but it works for us here. It's pretty much make a tweak, have a cuppa whilst it's printing and it's ready to try.

I've just got a second ams so twice as much waste to generate. I hope the desktop recycle machine does become a reality. I will purchase one if they do. Making your own filament from the waste will be great.

Ordered Thursday evening, delivered Saturday afternoon, installed Sunday lunchtime
Setup is very easy, replace the buffer unit with the hub and plug it all in. No instructions but you don't really need any.
Very happy, just printing off the internal desiccant containers with a hygrometer aperture.
