Can the battery Ah be too great for the tool?
Ah is the size of the petrol tank (6Ah is twice the capacity of 3Ah). It would be difficult to see how that could be too great. The physical size of the different capacity batteries varies, so an oversize battery can affect the balance of the tool so maybe that is what the note is about.
It may be that the better batteries can deliver more current and that is what is frying the switch. Think of that as the size of the hose running from the tank to the motor. Even at a stall, the old batteries could not produce more than X amps, wheras the new ones produce 3X amps, which the switch does not like.
There may be some electronic trickery that would current-limit the supply from the tool (like a lot of benchtop power supplies have). If that came as a cheap module, it could be worth an experiment.
