Sounds like your chain is getting nipped by the wood your cutting closing the cut. Put a cut in the bottom of the branch then cut down towards that cut, this should stop the nipping

ok thanks I will try they were only short pieces 2' that I was cutting in half weid how such a short section pinches. But that is the only explination as i thought the chain was going to snap trying to get the bar out!

Don’t pull to hard, if the saw has rubber AV elements you can pull them out. I’ve done this with an Husqvarna 254, was my bosses saw too! Got it jammed whilst cross cutting and couldn’t be bothered to get the other saw and cut myself out

what are rubber AV elements? I tried and tried rotating the chain but it just would not come out. 4 or 5 times this happened

I also found that the chain snagged a few times when cutting the harder wood.
Snagged and stalled the motor.
It was a bit of a mission to pull the chain back out of the half cut wood.
Whay does this happen?

Has this started to happen after you sharpened the chain?

Big saws aren't much fun. My 3120 is a fat heavy pig. 390 and 395 are nice to use, about the biggest saws that are a comfortable size.

Full of fuel and oil, with bar and chain fitted it's something stupid like 12kg. Miserable to use.

I won't disagree with your statement at all, but the Echo CS1201 is such a very rare old school saw, it doesn't even have a chain brake and the saw and exhaust appears to be modelled loosely on the Stihl 070/090 saws.

If I could justify buying the CS1201 I would just to own one.

My Echo CS900 EVL (90cc) saw with a 36" bar is my biggest saw even using that for extended periods becomes a pain after a while, but I am get old now so my 372 is really about my limit these days......

Ugly old thing, should stay in the past. 3120s and 880s are bad enough, i'd rather not use something even less user friendly.

I have two 395s. One sits on a shelf inside the house.
