What’s people’s thoughts about the Suzuki bandit

I had a 1200 Bandit for about a year. It needed a bit of sorting out, carbs were full of petrol gunge, an o ring was leaking oil,on the alternator, but I got it all sorted and did a few thousand miles on it. Very nice bike to ride, but the seat is awful after 75 miles.

I bought a BMW oilhead after a while, crude, agricultural, gearbox was like something Massey Ferguson might build.... but oddly enough I liked riding it more than the Bandit, and planned to go touring europe on it, so I sold the Bandit back to the guy I had originally bought it off of.

In hindsight, with a decent seat, maybe a good screen, and geared up a bit, the Bandit would have been a better tourer than the BMW. It would drop down to 20mph in top, then smoothly pull away with a twist of the throttle.The BMW needs 3 gear changes to do that.... along with the attendant crunching of metal teeth....

If i was in the market for a super scoot then this would be top of my list..The Honda Xadv 750

What about a grey import zxr400, Fzr 400 etc? If you’re not the size of me (6ft and 17 stone) they’re a hoot to ride. Need to play the gearbox like a piano to keep them on song too.

sv650 are a fun bike, once you get used to v twin engine braking- I had one as a courtesy bike after my thundercat and I kept locking the back wheel up going down the box.

bandits are good fun too, just suffer from being a cheap bike that’s usually faffed with.

wouldn’t touch a Ducati of any flavour if you ever want to be certain of finishing the journey you started.

Fazers are cracking, bit flexible when you start really pushing them but they’ll tea you a lot

I borrowed in cb400 i think it was, 400 class is underared more fun than my ninja on the road

Saw that and it’s a nice bike but too nice for the amount af miles and abuse it’ll get might end up changing my mind tho once I’ve looked at a gsx650f

Pity your so far mate as you could of had a look at the wifes...plenty about though so should be easy, btw they sound really nice with a straight through Beowulf can on them when on the cam

That’s good to know I’ll see if my mate wants to go for a look just don’t want to buy something like that and make it worthless by doing 20+K a year

Yeah there’s a couple 650s I’ve got my eye on one in Newcastle and one in Stranraer both with right hand side fairing damage so should get them for 2k or less

They have just had a recall for a reg/rec change so ask if its been done..

One of them will come with a full dealer service so I’d assume that one will be done but thanks for the info
