BOC and Volkszone - Gas Offer

Basically it's ~£43 for the bottle rental per year and ~£32 for refills. There's no collection charge (usually around £13 I think), so it's a good deal.

I looked at a rent free cylinder and that was £60 deposit and ~£60 per refill round my way. The BOC offer just made more sense assuming I get through just over 1 bottle a year. Plus the rent free stuff seemed to be having supply issues round here. I wasn't willing to wait 2 weeks to get a refill

Well after posting news of this offer back in 2009!!!, I've finally found it useful for me and signed up to it today !!!!

So yes, all good and still valid.

Calum down at BOC, Leith sorted me out, nice guy, great service

My process:
Calum called up to speak to the manchester branch, I spoke to them giving details, including bank, they do a credit check and fax over forms to sign, you sign the forms, they get faxed back and all sorted. A bit of waiting around while the checks done, and form details put on the system. Then got my gas straight away.

I had that deal too --- £74 for one years rental of a Y sized bottle including the gas BUT I didn't know that price was just for the first year !!!

I just sent an email to boc and they replied with cost of offer and I now have to respond to the email to get account set up. I just used the email in volkszone link. This was only last week so seems to still be valid.

Okay... This is still going. I just got off the phone from them (21 Jan 2013)

The deal is for the Y size (20L) cylinder and it's ArgoLite MIG welding gas.

The rental is £35.80 per year.
Refills are £24.52 (+1.92 enviroment charge).

These prices are PLUS VAT @ 20%

There is NO handling fee.

I phoned 0800 587 5868 which is their sales line. I said:

"Hi, I'm a member of Volkszone and I hear you have a welding gas offer"..

They knew exactly what I meant and put me through to accounts to set it up. They took all my details over the phone, did a quick credit check and I'm now waiting for the email to come through so I can print off, sign and send back. Then they will give me an account number so I can collect my gas.


You can pay direct debit, monthly or annually.
You can pay when you collect the gas.

Within 15 minutes, I have had the email, scanned and returned it and they called me back with my account number ready to take to my BOC stockists.

All done in an hour

Just to add to this. I had an existing BOC account, but a call to the number in tedmagnum's last post got me through to a very helpful young lady, who straight away said "Are you on the mig welding forum"

Apparently there have been a number of us calling her. Anyhow, she has linked my existing account to the Volkzone group, and from my next cylinder renewal I can enjoy those discounted rates on the Argoshield Light Y size bottle.

Doing this right now and the prices are as quoted from the nice young lady being transferred as I type. but I joined volks first so I don't have to tell a lie yippee oh and the rental is correct. Just waiting for the credit check and jobs a goodun . 35 quid a year is cheaper than hobby gases deposit. Bigger Cylinder more gas higher pressure it's just win win all down the line. Thanks For pointing this way, every member should do this that mig weld.
