It's difficult to digest that's all mate. 18 quid for an argon 20ltr is a massive amount cheaper than anyone on the forum can get the same deal for. I respect there will be little differences with deal striking but this is serious discount.

Ahh I see partly why the disc...look at your propane volumes...its a fair bit...

maybe mate who knows...but the figure i gave for propane was an addition after my welding gases deal was ironed out

I think that if someone is prepared to 'show off' about a deal in the open, they should back it up in the open.

But, I think the vast majority of us would be very hard pushed to get anywhere near that - for instance, me saying "I'm taking my custom of one bottle every 6-9 months elsewhere" is really not comparable to "I'm taking my £4-6000 annual custom elsewhere"

In any event,

The Rep told me that BOC are going really aggresive and trying to get into the home/hobby/low usage market and they would rather have gasses out the door rather than sitting around the yard iff it meant making only 10% profit,they then hope that you buy the consumables off them at the BOC outlets which i must say this year is really very impressive with the stock they now carry...only a couple of years ago all they had was regulators and bottle spanners,now they are doing almost every machine on the market.

I just got my first bill in from BOC. £109.06 for a Y size pure argon, does that sound right?

Are there any 90 degree adapters that allow a side entry reg to be used on a bottle with a straight up valve? Reason I ask is I'm looking at a welder that comes with a flow meter reg but it's side valve and I don't really want to spend 20 quid on a new reg if I can spend a fiver on an adapter to make the free reg fit the bottle

I was sent a 40% off offer today, I guess this maybe applied my Hobby Welder deal as its addressed to me and not our workshop, however it applies to the GENIE cylinders and would seem that BOC want people to exchange their Y sized bottles for the new style "FAT" bottle. Tbh mine are enough of a PITA that I'd not swap over.

Yep I have the exact same fitting on my optimator 11. Don't think I paid that much mind but certainly more than a fiver.

just light as far as im aware, i dont think they do heavy or universal on the hobbyist deal (volkszone offer)

I'm 99.9% sure light was the original deal.

My universal cost more than the light that's in the deal. About 80 quid for a year's rent and gas price.

It's on argoshield light, because that's what's best for thin metal such as welding up old VW's, hence the offer name!

IMHO I think it's a bit on the high side - check out posts above. I think you'd have a case to discuss your costs with BOC.

pulled the same stunt on my 1st statement too...straight on the phone and sorted in 60 seconds from accounts dept

EDIT....years rent upfront then its sounding right, but ime on monthly rates
