hi i rang my local boc dealer who said they have never heard of the deal but said if i can go in with a printout of the deal they will sort it out for me ,but now if you look on the original deal it says it is no longer being available. can anyone help with this. thanks

You need to organise it over the phone. Call BOC on 0161 930 6822 and Elaine in sales will sort you out if you ask for the volkzone offer.

The offer is still available I called BOC on 0161 930 6822 and spoke to Stuart (very helpful chap) who said the offer is still on and that he would send out an account form for me.

The offer as it stands:

• First years rent £35
• Second years rent £35
• Third (and subsequent) years rent £74 (as the offer only lasts 2 years)
• Fill-ups are £25

All prices are approximate.

Got my forms on the way and should be soon!

Just under 20 small disposables or 10 large disposables (60 and 110 litre) based on literage.

If you goto the Shielding Gas sub-forum there is a spreadsheet to help you work out what is the most cost effective measure.

Yikes, this would work out expensive for anyone like me who does welding occasionally, rather than professionally or for a big, one-off job like restoring a car.

I suggest we need a spreadsheet for genuine free-rental deals. £74 + VAT (presumably) per year is not free rental. How can they justify such sky-high charges?

I estimate I'd be likely to keep one cylinder for at least 5 years. If it was five years, I'd pay 35+35+74+74+74 = 292 plus VAT 20% = £350.

If it's equivalent to 20 small cylinders, as someone suggested above, that's 350/20 = £17.50 But small cylinders don't cost that much, do they?

If you are a light user, this offer could work out MORE expensive than small cylinders, and you also need floor space for the Volkzone cylinder, of course.

Mine too unless they have another offer on or its still the best deal on having a bottle onsite all year. Only have to need it once to cover the cost of the rental by not having to pay some one to come out & do the welding & the lost down time.

Just tried this number and it just rings, is it normally hard to get through or is it likely they're closed until the new year? It'd be nice to sort it before the VAT rise.

A lot of the more industrial companies have taken advantage of the bank holiday bonanza this year though and are closed from 23rd to the 4th though. I didn't realise today was a bank holiday, and assuming it wasn't I thought BOC may well be one of them.

Will get it all sorted tomorrow anyway, just a minor calendar related screw up

I got a bottle changed last year, just before christmas, Boc said they were then closed until after the january bank holiday.....could be the same this year.

Bear in mind that advance cylinder rental starts from the beginning of the month in which you start the contract, so If you manage to do it tomorrow the rental period is from the 1st of December, its probably cheaper to wait a few days and pay the new VAT rate.
