Hi guys. Hope ya all ok. Have not posted lately as been busy doing house stuff. But will be back on track soon.
Looks well thought out to meFirst glance at the first pic makes it look like a big old lump of a lathe - then you notice the socket on the wall behind
One can only wonder about what kind of drug the designer was on when he came up with that apron arrangement...
A couple of updates. Still progressing with the scraping of the carriage. Long job this one as it was totally out of shape. But am getting there. View attachment 164729 View attachment 164730
You can buy them . I had these ones made. My ones flex a little and that helps . I have one streight and a swan neck.Making good progress there. Not sure if you have mentioned it already, where did you get your scrapers from? I'm struggling to find somewhere that sells a proper machinist scraper!
Sandvick . When I did it for a living company was to tight to buy them so we had to braze carbide onto a holder. Small ones for light tickling were made from gauge plate. Only charge hands had biax or old cable drive wobblersMaking good progress there. Not sure if you have mentioned it already, where did you get your scrapers from? I'm struggling to find somewhere that sells a proper machinist scraper!
It's a nice ol machine. But I can't buy yet....
Thanks rig pig. Yes it's been a bit fresh. Never really bothered me over the years but really feel it in the bones nowDon't blame you, I spent the day lifting ice chunks and pumping 15 tons of green ice cold water out of a 'bargain' swimming pool my wife found. I have never been so cold!
The lathe looks fantastic, makes me wish I had the time to do up mine!
