Bits are going back on at last.
Thanks slim. Got a little more finishing but they work well.@spencer 427 Great job on those C spanners!
It's in very good order an will be spot on for empire. I will make a start on it in the next day or two. That's nicer than the one you showed me, Spencer. More or less identical to the one on my Boxford.
Not sure Matt without measuring. I would say as a guess about 3/4 inch.Shouldn't be too hard to straighten the shaft. How thick/wide is it?
Yes I have presses. I will dig the shaft out tomorrow and see what's what..Do you have a flypress, arbor press or hydraulic press? Sitting the shaft in a couple of vee blocks, or atop some brass rod, with a brass piece, (wedge shaped or a T rod, at a right angle to the piece), pressing down on the bend should straighten it up. I have done it with a vice on thinner rod, but 3/4" would likely require a press unless it's really soft steel.
Might have to call upon you peteI got bench centres, vee blocks and a 10 ton press.
reminds me of one I used to have on my pollard drill bankThat's nicer than the one you showed me, Spencer. More or less identical to the one on my Boxford.
I could of course put a bid in on the remaining drillreminds me of one I used to have on my pollard drill bank
Like the sprung retainers. Might make some for mine.Today's task was to finish the other set of gears...the gear retaining springs are weak so sorted some new ones...one problem has showed up and a good job to was I thought the 127 translation gear had a bend/twist in it..But the gear is fine. The gear selector shaft has a slight bend in it. Bad enough to lock the gearbox in the lower gears...I have a video clip of it. I will pop the shaft out and see if I can straighten it. Failing that then it's a new shaft. Iva way needs sorting .View attachment 171686 View attachment 171687 View attachment 171688
