Chuck is on and sorted. I must confess this suits the machine. I have a good selection of chucks for the machine. Am on the home straight now....

I am not actually sure on its year Brad. I have the main machine number so just need to look in to it. Lathes uk state from 1930s to 1949

And refurbish this fantastic machinist lamp. Really nice lamp with lots of reach.. a little dent in the case that needs sorting. Otherwise a good strip. Clean. And paint then re wire...

Any of you guys worked with stove enamel. I take it that's the white crud inside this lamp. How is the best method to remove it..

The lamp shade is being gently blasted. And then stove enamel white for the inside. And grey to match the lathe. The rest of it I have stripped today and will paint strip these...

All the lamp parts have been paint stripped. Parts are now in a tub of acetone. This will help lift the remaining bits of paint....

Some of the parts I will not paint. Just a light polish. This will look good against the grey of the lamp and lamp arms.

Amazes me how many bits these lamps have. You try taking a Brookhirst LoVoLamp apart, there’s about a hundred parts all told, leaf springs too!

They look simple and as you say...a lot of little parts. There is a spring and few other little bits that are not in the picture. Just waiting for the lamp shade to be sorted

And the patience I don't know how he has the hours in the day to get the bits surgically clean and looking like they have just come off the production line.we have some very talented people on this forum.

Patience comes from enjoying what I do. As for time..I spent from the age of 17 to the age of 40 working 6/7 days a week from 5 in the morning to 6 clock evening...I retired from that. I do a few jobs here and there. I have now until my time is up enjoying the refurbishing and actually feeling happy..

Sounds like you earned it, kids these days don't even know they are born, want everything without having to put the effort in and upset because their 36 hours a week takes them away from Facebook.
