Hot weather for painting, it's going off quite quickly.

And the foam rollers last 5 minutes in the solvent paint. I'm using the long hairy type now.

Slow going. Second coat of the epoxy mastic. Nearly finished this layer. So aiming to have done all the epoxy by end of weekend.

Focusing on loading the paint on, and getting a half decent finish.

I have something similar to paint soon. Almost finished my trailer. Frame is 50x50mm angle 6mm thick. will be sandblasted first.
Which Jotun are you using?
I was thinking of slapping it on with a brush and then a small foam roller to smooth it out - what do you think?

Jotamastic 90A (or 90) slightly overthinned with thinner 17 will go on on lovely with a decent brush.
It's a recomended application method from the makers.

I wouldn't bother with the roller, but if you do, use the short pile gloss rollers and be prepared to change them often when they start moulting.
Rollers don't apply a thick enough coat so you need to apply more coats to achieve the same performance.

A couple of coats by brush should last for years.

I was only thinking of the rollers to get rid of the brush marks really.
2 coats of 87 AL followed by Hardtop as the top coat. Trailer will live outside. floor is 10mm stockboard (polypropylene) with 6mm ali checkerplate over so nothing to rot. Sides are marine grade ali.

I found the brush along leaves marks, so applying with a brush and rolling immediately is good. It's a nice consistent speckledfinish

I'm now just rollering, and, on the basis that if the same amount of paint goes on, it doesn't make much difference what I use and the roller is smoother, so less risk of pin holes.

I'm using 90a.

And the foam rollers are no good, the long pile mohair can be used as a brush for narrow gaps, the short mohair leave a neater finish. At £1.50 each I usually only wash them out once then after second use, throw out.

I hope to finish the second coat of the jotamastic layer tonight, then I've a chassis to weld up tomorrow.

most peoples issues is spreading the paint too thinly with the roller as its easily done if your not sure add another coat or 2 coats

dry walls prove this fact to be true as it really shows up when you roller a wall

I'm loading the surface quite thick.

I used a batch of paint to do one end of the wagon with the brush, and an using the same amount (or a bit more) to do an end with the roller, so I figure it's gone somewhere!!

I'm doing three coats of the jotamastic, and maybe four around the base. Paranoia? But will still keep an eye on how it fares over time.

Couldn't. It's on the patio. I used a needle descaler. Much noise and electric. And a polydisk on a grinder.

Third, and final, interior coat started. Only anti corrosion wax to go on top of this coat.

Yes sml etc will sell it.

It's not much, but it's the last coat of jotamastic. Next coat is top coat!
