I went with the Max as it was a good balance between size of print and cost. Happy with it so far but still getting used to it so no expertCheers. I was going to ask which Ender 3 in particular is best. Plus, V2 etc.
That is the exact model I went with, gets you the glass bed and a couple of other features. I strongly recommend you do not "upgrade" anything. By the time you have run half a dozen reels through it, you will appreciate all of its value is the ability to deliver reliable prints and it is great value for that.
If you want a better printer, buy a better version, it is way more cost effective. I use my machine as a tool for producing useful items. It is not a hobby and therefore I do not intend to entertain myself by constantly upgrading and fixing the inevitable issues which arise.
There are a few "no brainers" such as the bowden cable replacement but those are all detailed in this thread; https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/what-3d-printer.103545/
@Screwdriver I'm a bit lost. You said the one to get is the Ender 3 V2 but further on that you went with the Ender 3 Pro. Which one did you get please? Cheers.

That doesn't help much, I think I'm after comparing the Ender 3 V2 and the Ender 3 Pro...rather than the standard and V2 model.

I cant comment between the two to be honest but creality seem to see what mods are made by users and add them pre sale as a newer model.Told him to go for the V2.
I sort of agree BUT if he is learning anything will be useful to get the basics right. Buying cheap and keeping it as a spare or selling it on loosing a few quid might be an option . Only the OP's mate can really decide.I believe the latest ender 5 is shipping with the new quiet 32 bit board. The ender 3 will be soon. This is worth waiting for, apart from being quiet due to stepper motor drivers, it means you can add stuff like bed levellers without messing about trying to optimise memory and farting about with boot loaders like you have to on the 8 bit board. I fitted an after market 32 bit board from big tree tech, not expensive but this avoids the need to do that. So if you are not in a rush, wait a couple of months and get the latest ender 3.
I Just looked, it has the 32 bit board so good ideaTold him to go for the V2.
