I have a 10 gall pot for bead blasting and I can do a Lambretta engine & magneto casing inside and out on one fill.

About the filling valve, if you opened it slowly with pressure in the pot it would blow a lot of dust out of the media and into the extractor - which would be a Good Thing.

i'm struggling to get a big pot under the cabinet how long does it take to use the grit in a ten gallon tank the one i'm thinking of using is about three gallon don't want to use it if it will only last a coulpe of minutes

realy the pot doesnt need to be under the cabinet . 3 gallon isnt realy a lot .bigger the better within reason portable is better on wheels can be used outdoor as well. heres my small one i use it for the cabinet and outdoors as well

I want to put the pot under to save time. it's got to be easier turning a valve than messing about with a funnel i just thought it would be a much neeter job i would never use a pot outside i've no room. yours is a tidy thing did you make yours?

yes ive made a few in difrent sizes . what sort of abrasive are u going to use aluminium oxide re usable??if u are it will need sieving before refilling the pot . has your cabinet got a flat bottom or a tapered hopper underneath to hold the media after use

I have used this cabinet for years with a syphon gun but i've never realy had much luck with it always seams a bit lame so i'm hoping there should be a bit more power with a pot. mind you i have a better compressor now with a bigger tank

the difrence will be well noticable pressure fed i still use a suction gun in mine sometimes if its a small article and not to coroded

i just hope the pot will be big enough and i'm not having to keep fill it up every five minutes. but we will see if all else fails i can just get a bigger pot and run it at the side. i won't have lost much if it won't work just a few hours work. beats watching afternoon telly

The pot is ready just needs mounting under the cabinet Don't you just hate hamerite like painting snot

Brightspark how do you bring the pipe from your pot into the cabinet? i was thinking of a large grommet through the side. i'm planning on using 1/2 inch heater hose. i've put a "T" in the feed pipe for a small blowgun inside the cabinet as it's always dusty in there

I used a convoluted gearstick gaiter from a scrap car, Metro IIRC, the pipe enters the front RHS of my cabinet (I'm right handed).

I'm using 1/2 inch heater hose at about a £1 per metre, proper blast hose is about £4.00 pm, but I haven't measured how much longer it lasts.

will it work ?? a few more little jobs to do yet. i'm trying to make a popup valve at the moment so the pot may be coming off again depends how it goes.

You should be OK with heater hose, it won't last as long as the proper stuff, but I don't know how it works out in £/Area Blasted.

It's most likely to wear through near the mixer at the bottom of the pot. I repair mine with a short length of larger hose on the outside of the blast hose before it wears through.

had a look and the pipe i have loads of is 3/4 i only had the one piece of 1/2 and it's just long enough. i've not finished yet i've got to put the pipe into the cabinet and from the "T" i'm giong to put an airline onto a small blowgun inside the cabinet. loads of little bits of jobs. i need to make a new mesh pannel. some new gloves but i'll get there

tried it yesterday wow what a differance between pressure pot and syphon gun there is loads more power it's a bit difficult to meter the grit though the ball valve is too sensitive going to have to sort that out. Could do with a bigger ball valve at the top as it took about two minutes to get all the grit to flow into the pot i'm using a 3/4 should have used a 2 inch but first signs are very good well impressed. thanks for the help guys

The filler on the Ebay pots looks like 1-1/4 BSP

I'm going to extend the operating lever for the bottom valve on my pot to make it more compatible with my aching back and will build in some pivots to increase the operating stroke at the handle.

yes thats my plan have a long lever linked to the ball valve via pivots so a big movement on the lever results in small movement on the ball valve

Getting there a bit more painting and a couple of little jobs to do but you get the jist of it. made a lever from the bottom ball valve to make it easier to meter the grit and make it easier on my bad hip i've just to make some sort of scale at the side of the lever so i can set the grit flow the same every time. something like this could be put onto a seperate pot so you don't have to keep bending down. like i say not finished yet but its a little closer
