Ok guys an update. It all went well.....well almost.

It looks like I got cocky and thought it was easy.....oooppss teach me to work at 11.30 (pm)

Anyway it fits BUT when they tried it they found the part it bolts to was worn.
So it needs a new one made or a good repair.
I am inclined to think repair.....just because they may be scrapping the machine when they move sites. But it's keeping my son in overtime as they were bending to sell rather than just moving stock.

Really chuffed how I could follow screwdrivers co-ordinates ,especially after telling me to reset to zero.

I still haven't decided what to do with the model. I had hoped to sell them but the price would be ridiculous just for the print time so I'd have to find some way of releasing the model without getting ripped off.

Have you tried getting some prices from any of the online printing services?
If the model has 100 parts then get 5 places to print 20 parts each or something so nobody else has all the details at once.

No idea what the prices are like it might be worth looking at as the only time input for you would be uploading the files to a website and ordering then unpacking the parts when delivered, sorting them, repacking to send out.
If you did 50 sets at a time that's probably only an afternoons work and if you just made £20 profit a kit, not a bad afternoons work either.
That's obviously proving you can find 50 buyers for them and I guess it's the marketing and selling/posting that will take the bulk of the time and knock the hourly rate back down.
Unless you can find some sort of model exhibition or space fayre to get a stall at if you think you could do a few hundred of them in a day?

Thanks, I may revisit the idea of having a few of the long duration prints farmed out. The fantasy was, JWST would make a MAJOR discovery, be all over the news and models would sell like hot cakes.

It has made some incredible discoveries but some of the data are bought and paid for and remain hidden for up to 6 months while the sponsors retain control.

If I could knock out a few I could then purchase a couple more printers and start a print farm. Maybe I ought to advertise a bit and see what the response is. Got a fair few things on my plate currently and don't really know what the important things are which need priority. But back on the model, the mechanism is great but somehow I'm not happy with the overall look of the model. I may eventually produce several versions, simple decorative "lifelike" version and a skeletised fully functioning folding version.

OK, probably not millions of people all looking at the same sort of stuff I do but I bet a decent % of your target market would be..
