That’s the big problem, most foundries have given up on iron because fuel is so expensive.
Tried two other foundries and to say they were poor was a understatement where this place is superb.
I was having a chat with mr k and he said even in America finding a iron foundry that produces engineering grade work is nearly impossible

@pressbrake1 don’t burn the patterns, try and get the others from the foundry (probable that they will not release them without payment of outstanding amount) you should not be liable for overmakes. they might even charge for their intellectual property ( methods / runner system) under normal circumstances I could have them cast at work but we are in strange circumstances at present. Anyway once this has blow over I’ll get them cast at mates rates. What grade of iron did you spec?

Anyhow got on with machining a 36” from the original foundry, rough as you like in fettled but affordable and his morals are without question.
Had to use the big K&t to do it as my devlieg is stuck in a yard, my planer is stuck at my pals place and my hbm is still on the trailer

Annoyingly, there's a hipster type hairdressers not too far from me and they have a wonderful selection of old Wesco, and the like, oil cans in the window. Will they sell them? Will they ****

Super expensive casting was porous.
Reacted the only way I could with a sledge wasn’t all being aggressive as I wanted to see the grain structure
I’ve learnt my lesson on this one and will stay in my station and not get ideas again
