CATS!!!!

Mhairi our 19 and 3/4 year old Tonkinese had to be put down today, stopped eating 3 days ago, vet diagnosed a large tumour and kidney failure.

She has been my constant companion since she was a kitten she loved people and slept in or on the bed all her life, latterly snuggled into my oxter. She always sensed when you were ill or down and would sit on or next to you, she was a great support going through my cancer treatment.

It is so tough saying goodbye to them as they take their last breaths wife and I are distraught.

As a kitten, she was always adventurous.

she was comfortable with my friends

Liked comfort, though was also a lethal killer, brought in everything from bats to moles.

She used to stalk the sheep in the field next door, was funny seeing a field of sheep running from a small cat.

Latterly hiding in the grandaughter's soft toy collection

Had a great taste in motorbikes too

Will never forget her and the joy she brought to our lives.

So sorry to read that ranna. It’s amazing how they get under your skin. She looked a fab cat. Always gutting when they go but what a great life she’s had though.

Unfortunately one our cats Luna got walloped by a car yesterday morning. You don’t notice how important they are in your life until they aren’t. I’m sure they’re both having a whale of time over the bridge. (As my daughter would say)



My grandad used to say that drunks and babies find their own comfort. I think cats deserve to be in that phrase too…

Yard cat at workshop was late for Breakfast the other morning.

Normally it is waiting at doorstep Meowing its head off while I am unlocking - Friday it was nowwhere to be seen.

Found myself walking up and down the yard whistling - till it popped its head out of a hedge and came running!

Feel for you. I still haven't got over losing Muffy Tuff back in February. Still miss the race for the armchair

What a great life though 19 3/4 years, that's a fair age for a cat, think 18 is the longest any of ours have lived.
It is heart breaking when they go. Take comfort in the memories and maybe a new kitten in time will fill the void.

Our old one gets very upset if there's "a hole in the bowl":

He's an rough, tough moggy who mainly sleeps outside at night. Though he has cat flap access at night, in the morning it's a ritual that he runs in to greet you then goes to his bowl. He will not eat unless we fill the "hole" in with even just a few fresh munchies. I've even tried shaking the bowl with what's there but he just stares at me until I properly top it up.

Our young one seems to be a bit of a petrol head. Open a car door and he's in.

Thursday night I was emptying my car cum mobile workshop to make space when collecting the Pug door from @JMS1972

In jumps Syd quite happy. I'm back and forth to the garage and he comes in. I check he's not in there and lock up. SWMBO gives me a lift up the pub. I come back at 11.30. SWMBO is distraught. She can't find him, has looked in the garage etc. Not helping I said "He's either been run over or killed and eaten by a fox/badger. Don't worry there's two spares up the pub!"

In the garage there's Syd sat in the aisle between the two cars. Would he come out, nope, disappeared under one of the Capris. After trying to tempt him with sliced beef then to dislodge him with a soft broom I gave up.

"Can't you leave the door open?" said SWMBO.

Nope said I and went to bed. Apparently at 3AM, SWMBO, my lad and the old cat went in and dragged him out from under the Capri.

I still have an oily paw prints on the Garage wall where Mr Cat was conducting one of his inspections
and climbed up between the car parked against the wall rock climber chimneying style.
I would be working under a car in the garage, go to pick up a socket to find the little so and so on the other side of the garage rolling the sockets away, playing football or something.
