I'd go and drink from his bowl and see how he likes it...Trying to wean our one off of his drinking water mug on my bedside table at the moment. It's been there for years but he's in and out probably 6 times a night now meaning I'm getting very little sleep. I've had enough! I sleep with the sliding bedroom door shut due to the noise from the kids and landing light.
If the cat is on the bed he'll walk across me to get a drink then either walk back across me onto the bed or jump onto the floor with a thud and scratch at the door. Likewise if he's out he'll come in and scratch like mad at the closed bedroom door. Leave him long enough and he'll get it open. Then it lets the light / noise in.
Moved his glass pint pot onto the landing, didn't want to know! Showed him etc. Got SWMBO moaning as the cat has a genuine condition whereby he has to drink a lot. He'll just sit on the bedside table looking lost. Last night I heard him drinking from the glass so progress and I didn't have a bad night.
My 20 year old ginger (sorry, champagne) cat is pretty much going downhill fast now. Skin and bones, and a bit of a loose botty (puppy pads are wonderful), but still manages to get a good shout going at the new visiting cat, if he wakes up in time to see them.
Tonight, I was feeding the ‘Lodger’, and Toby came staggering over. I finally realised who he looks like now. Anyone remember that wonderful sketch by Victoria Wood, when the ancient waitress keeps wandering over to the couple. Well, that is exactly who he puts me in mind of.
That’s the one. Toby has her walk down to a tee.Played by Julie Walters?

One of my cats - has the lid off the little fish tank and drinks from it
This is the current rescue, he is called buddy.
Great cat but a touch too much for our two cats thought they will play along most of the day by the evening ours get a bit less playful and more grumpy he hasn't yet worked it out.

He looks a "smart looking cat" - devious "artfull" - clever cat...
