None of mine leak. From the filler cap, onto chain/bar or internally?

The 020T seems to need a chain 2 drive links shorter than normal, I assume thats the case for any length bar... So for 10", I want 38 links?

Perhaps I have missed something, the saw is listed as 12-16" and 10" chains dont seem common in 3/8" pitch. Will it damage or wear the saw if I use a bar/chain that is shorter than the recommended?

Only issue with shorter bars is over revving the saw but at 2" difference it's not an issue.

DL will be correct if stated for that bar and saw combo.
For chains and bars I use logs and saws as he sells peak chains they make Oregon.

Also I have been mixing fuel 50:1. 100ml to 5L. I looked up a Stihl manual for the 020T and it shows 40:1, so now I am unsure if it changed depending on year. Which ratio is correct?

DL will be correct if stated for that bar and saw combo.

No one lists a 10" combo for the 020T, I'll keep it in mind about over revving, thanks

Looking at baby saws, as less weight and stress on the hands, and will save me swapping short and long bars.

How do they compare, Stihl ms151tc vs Echo 2511tes/tesc or Husqvarna T525?

I have been offered a near new T525, but a new 2511 is only slightly more.


I looked up oil, seems Stihl HP red is only Jaso-FB, HP Super green is Jaso-FD, so I will get that.

Christmas sale too. I was listening to a guy who uses these saws. He replaces all the rubber components as the bits that come are rubbish. He puts in OEM husky or Stihl parts. He’s had one for 4 years and no issues. Quite like the idea of building them up

How do they compare, Stihl ms151tc vs Echo 2511tes/tesc or Husqvarna T525?

I have been offered a near new T525, but a new 2511 is only slightly more.

I have a T525, love it. Great little saw, loads of power for its size, incredibly light, revs up quick. Just such a nice little saw to use.

I might order the G660 soon but, I spoke with a shop who used to sell them. He said a Husq 372? Is a much better saw and that G660/660's have poor anti vibration.
Farmertec do a Husq 372 clone.

Still need to shape teeth. It looks like the mount holes are unthreaded plastic, so should I use self tappers or glue some studs in? 4.5mm hole.

Going to copy the round bar chain catcher for the 020T and CS340. The 340 has dropped a couple of chains and bent both the catcher and a chain tooth, I think the echo way is better.

372xp is an excellent saw, we run 2 353s and they're great. My brother has a 550 and a 572, but both have been trouble, usually with the auto tune.

I've an early 550 xp had it from new without a single issue to date , even with leaving fuel in it for months on end . At one point I had running an 8 tooth sprocket and 3/8's chain ! but it was a bit vicious and would pull you in not so much chips but chunks . Now it's back to .325 and 7 tooth with an extra vent cut in the cover running a 15" canon superbar ( mini )

Only issue to date with my 562XP was the other week where clearing a tree from a lane a piece of wood got jammed in the idler wheel on the end. That took a fair bit of prising out.

I've been running Aspen 2 in it for the amount of usage I give it and the fuel normally stays in it.

My 550 was a PIA on hot days. It would start when cold, first thing in the morning. Stop for any reason and it wouldn’t start again.

My mccullock cs340 usually starts first and every time. Today I took it to training and noted the primer didnt want to fill with fuel, but eventually enough presses it filled, bit odd as the tank is brimmed and I cant see any way air could get it without a leak somewhere.. so primer full, choke on..

Would it bloody start? No. Not even a full throttle start. I will have to check it over..
Got assessment on Sat and would prefer to use mine, and only proper starting will be allowed...

After much searching and ringing around factors and dealers I found what I've been repeatedly assured is a complete brake master cylinder. I queried the cheapness of the quote, physically went to the dealers and the guy showed me on screen the complete master cylinder assembly which is what I want and assured me that's what I'll be getting.

I paid just over £100. When I got home I noted on the invoice part Number H01462SDBA02 (or maybe it's HO1462SDBA02 with an "O" rather than a "0"). I reckon it's this and all I'll be getting is a seal kit. After a quick Google:

First course I did, yo-yo starting was acceptable. Not now
Cold start on the ground, warm start between your legs but some trainers don’t like or accept people doing that.
Personally I just start them all on the ground

I dont understand the reasoning for a cold start on ground. Saws are not viscious beasts when they are started. Perhaps incase the throttle is broken or stuck on?

Similarly they want us to do all chain maintence wearing gloves - not chainsaw gloves, any gloves. When asked "rated for what type of protection?" I just got a blank face. I dont have the feel for filing in cloth gloves, I will try the nitrile disposable type for the test.
