Chamfering tool - any good?

Cosmetic bevelling yes. Weld prep no.
This thing is only capable of very small chamfers for cosmetic purposes(chamfer depth 0.1-0.9mm). It will never do a 30 degree bevel on 10 or 15mm plate for weld prep.
And judging by the cost and the origin it will probably go whizz, pop, bang after two weeks of use.

I wouldn't read too much into the stated chamfer depth, watching the video it was doing way more with ease, for 3mm box it will be ideal, chips are way preferable to grinding disc dust.

Some of us don't need a full bevel, just a little more bite. We ain't all building critical structures.

If I only get two weeks I'll get a free one...ad infinitum.

Let's see what it's like when it turns up..I love a gadget.

My guess would be that the 01.-0.9 reference is the maximum cutting depth (for each pass) rather than the maximum bevel size.

The range is probably to cover stainless/steel/alloy.

It's not going to be any use if 0.9mm is the maximum bevel size!

I think you might find it tiresome to use if you have to make loads of passes adjusting inbetween but for that price I would be tempted to have one for cosmetic finishes even if it was not suitable for weld prep

Another thing,
Those cutting tips like to run fast.
If you only have a small compressor then make sure you stop cutting before the air pressure drops as you will blunt them quickly if the tool is running too slowly

It does make something look nice.
They are good for running round drain covers and table tops.
Once you have one you will be bevelling off everything

In the video he was definitely taking a bigger cut than 0.9mm.

What I reckon is that the adjustment dial has markings that go up to 0.9mm and the person that wrote the ad didn't know what they were writing about...then all the other sellers just copied it

No point in my ordering one, if I need to chamfer thicker stuff I just use the angry grinder. By the time my grotty welding's finished you'd not be able to tell if the chamfer was neat or not

I can see the benefit of having it for cosmetic finishes, but I've no room for a bigger compressor...
going to be interesting reading the reviews though.

You could buy an air one and graft the head onto a battery tool easy enough. If you made it have and M14 internal thread it would go on a grinder

Statler and Waldorf are my heros.

I had a look at the same one a couple of weeks ago and decided it probably is very low quality.
I suspect that the bearing in that thing are very cheap and won't last very long.
I will keep an eye on this topic, and if You prove me wrong I might get one myself.
I could use one for cosmetic stuff. For welding prep bevels on thick stuff I have the plasma.
