All I know is that many of the non-food items sold by Lidl and Aldi are good quality and low cost. I have no idea how their buyers operate or where the stuff comes from but I've taken a chance with these non-branded products enough times to know they are normally very good. For my money, the Lidl rods also seem very good.
When I started arc welding, I went to a local welding supplier, thinking I was doing the right thing to buy some rods. They knew what they were selling, all right. They used their knowledge to sell me a mediocore brand at a sky-high, rip-off price. Never again...
The Lidl box says of the E4322 rods: rutile, cellulose coated for welding low-alloy steels. For all welding positions - also suitable for top welding. Smooth arc welding and good ignition features. Compatible with light socket transformers.
the rods you have may be of good quality, next time they may be the same maybe not, thats the issue........
In all honesty most are not paticualy cheep, its quite possible to pick up branded rods, as cheep as the so called cheep rods.....
theres good and bad suppliers and distributors, chances are walk in for a box of rods and there have you over, but once you start buying regally the discounts come along, big shops such as B&Q, tescos etc, make huge profits the reason being there good at selling for the highest price possible, I can guarantee that most of the guys I deal with, can beat the likes of all the big corporates, on power tools, and equipment, they also have people in the company's that know there stuff, they have to give good service, over wise they don't stay in bussiness......
