Wasn't that all part of the fun though?
For me no it’s notWasn't that all part of the fun though?
I used to have a mostly carbon and titanium 853 in the garage ,,,, it was for polishing and just looking at , then I went and bought a GS ,,, just for riding , it got washed once a year at the end of the season and put away .For me no it’s not
I want to go out on a ride and enjoy the ride not fix some muppets bike that doesn’t know what he’s doing
I'm one who wants to put fuel, tyres and brakes in, service it and look after the oily, whirry bits - and enjoy riding it. I don't mind a bit of fettling, but I don't want something unreliable or fragile.I used to have a mostly carbon and titanium 853 in the garage ,,,, it was for polishing and just looking at , then I went and bought a GS ,,, just for riding , it got washed once a year at the end of the season and put away .
Not sure which one was more satisfying to own ,,, both great but in different kind of ways.
Used to have an early 748 too, it was deeply satisfying but I found out that they were better suited to tracks than busy roads. Had a 900 Superlite which was more of a ‘gentleman’s’ bike then a 900s monster first edition then a ST2. The monster was the best to live with…My first 748 was really reliable and dream to ride
My second one was a nightmare
I still have that Rockster in the pic (the pic is only a few weeks old).@GRW what are you running currently then? I’m similar to you, I just feed them, service them and other than modifying at start of ownership I generally just oily rag them.
invest 40 quid in a unicycle ,,, I have two , they are the best fun you can have ,, mighty bits of kit , and they will improve your normal riding skills too... I used to use mine for gig transport for nipping up to the stage from the desk area pre prod ,, trust me you will have fun and frustration in equal amounts to start with.I still have that Rockster in the pic (the pic is only a few weeks old).
All my riding these last few years though has been Mountain Biking - so the Beemer is sadly neglected. I love motorcycles, always was obsessed with the things since I was a kid - but all the joy is being sucked out of rising on UK Roads. Either its a Plod with a Hairdrier lurking, or some Scummy Civvy in a Scamera Van - the speed limits are getting silly (IMO so the Police can extract more money by making a safe speed for decades into an "unsafe" one) - and the standard of driving (& the attitude & behaviour) of motorists is worse than its ever been.
Riding an MTB gives me a buzz without having to worry about my licence - so the poor bike is getting used.
Yes I sympathise, I suppose it’s where people live that’s also part of the the problem, I’m just on the Yorkshire/Derbyshire border so not too bad as yet. I did also ride an Mz Skorpion sport 660 single for many years and most of the fun could be had at 40-80mph on tight corners. It was like a two wheeled caterham sevenI still have that Rockster in the pic (the pic is only a few weeks old).

Iv still got one since I was 14 it’s very true that it’s frustrating but once you master it they are great funinvest 40 quid in a unicycle ,,, I have two , they are the best fun you can have ,, mighty bits of kit , and they will improve your normal riding skills too... There were a couple of 748's running around with TL1000 engines in. Depending on which way you looked at it you were curing the handling problems of the TL, or the power/reliability issues of the Duc twin.My first 748 was really reliable and dream to ride

I have always liked the Yamaha SRX 600 and the SZR660, I'd REALLY love an Over Racing SRX but they are very rare and expensive!Yes I sympathise, I suppose it’s where people live that’s also part of the the problem, I’m just on the Yorkshire/Derbyshire border so not too bad as yet. Apparently a 916 got the treatment too, and once the 'pretty bits' are back on you'd have to look twice to tell. There were a couple of 748's running around with TL1000 engines in. My second one had a TL engine it was a weapon and a halfThere were a couple of 748's running around with TL1000 engines in. Depending on which way you looked at it you were curing the handling problems of the TL, or the power/reliability issues of the Duc twin.
It was a very simple conversion , really only two front engine mounting plates from what I remember. My second one had a TL engine it was a weapon and a half
Sold it for a drag racing busa
I had an early 748 , think it was about 97 or 98 but it was the one with basically no stickers , just a small 748 on the sides ,,, I bought a set of Cagiva Mito stickers for it ,,,Yep not like @dobbslc mito
