I'll dig out the link I used for the guillotine backgauge. That was a Chinese servo and driver from Aliexpress for under £300. It took step and dir inputs albeit I used them differentially for robustness.would you reccomend any plug and play nema 34 servos and drives that take step and dir?
Your supposed to slow down the corners for the plasma no ?Ah that is a bit better
Biggest drawback to steppers is slow acceleration, if you have 90 degree corners you will get rounding unless you slow things down, complex shapes likewise.
If your plasma can't keep up, I don't bother, no need.Your supposed to slow down the corners for the plasma no ?
What do you mean ?If your plasma can't keep up, I don't bother, no need.
I am impressed with the quality I get from the Jasic, wouldn't say it is near laser quality but it is good....
The quality that Hood gets off his table rivals laser, at least it rivals the laser we have at work
My normal is 4-20mm alu, 3-16mm stainless and steel 3-30mm...and yet I get along just fine with that same controller and steppers....
How thick of material are you zipping around on ?
30 mm what plasma supply ?My normal is 4-20mm alu, 3-16mm stainless and steel 3-30mm
On thinner stuff the laser shines, but on 12mm upwards, our laser makes any sort of job between ok and awful. 20mm in particular is terrible, always has been.I am impressed with the quality I get from the Jasic, wouldn't say it is near laser quality but it is good.
Jasic 80Amp, been looking for pics but can't find any, only one I can find is the one below and it is either 20mm or 25mm.30 mm what plasma supply ?
....
You don’t get the tapered kerf with laser, but sometimes the striations are random and so deep that it might as well be taper. Plus, sometimes you get tapered holes anyways, if you go too small with diameter/thickness ratio.
....
You're somehow getting HD plasma quality on that 20mm that's good enough to meet any thermal cutting spec. Its a million miles better than our laser. This was showing that there was minimal bevel on the above 20mm part.

And even on the scrap side it was minimal.

Yes, 50% more Also a lot slower, 80mm/min and edge start, max pierce I do is 20mm although I have done 25mmand no corner slow down ?
Your part has an interior cut out with what looks like 4 corners, but you designed the part with some larger
radius so to preclude corner slow down.
Which I do as well, however Hypertherm shows corner slow down for more accuracy.
also there is a big difference from 20 to 30mm when it comes to plasma.
