on a plasma forum I visit, one person was doing similar with a Powermax 85, by tweaking the torch air passages.
I wonder if the Jasic torch is modified in that way as OEM ?
Although, his travel speeds were slower than I can do with oxy using Koike hi-speed tips at 100 psi.

Your part has an interior cut out with what looks like 4 corners, but you designed the part with some larger
radius so to preclude corner slow down.
Which I do as well, however Hypertherm shows corner slow down for more accuracy.

also there is a big difference from 20 to 30mm when it comes to plasma.

Some 10mm steel with sharp corners and no slowdown and that was before I upped the acceleration.

Some 16 or 20mm, not sure, again no slowdown.

Some 5mm stainless.

Some 8mm Alu

Some 10 or 12mm Alu

I just picked up a used Powermax 1650 and am looking for a machine torch for it.
Was going to go with a chinese copy of the Duramax torch, but will look at other options.

Cut at 80Amps (I always do) and 400mm/min

I must admit that the thicker stuff goes better than the thinner.
A pic of 25mm steel done earlier this year, cut speed is 600mm/min but I have corner slowdown to 60% on sharp corners. I have a PM125 and am quite happy with it, however your Jasic does one hell of a good job at no where near the cost of a Hypertherm. One thing that I am curious is, how do you go for duty cycle, the PM125 is rated 100% at 125amps?

The one I have is just 40% at full amps, not had it cut out yet.

20mm plate, long straight is typical of a "good" laser cut.
The disc with square cut out is "bad" and I haven't actually shown you the "ugly"...

"good" 15mm cut on the lashing plate.
Then down to 10mm, it actually produces excellent cuts (once I dialed the program in this summer!)
Oh and occasionally it throws a bad cut and doesn't sever through, the slag re-melts at the bottom and you're left with a heap of utter scrap seems to be completely random, although the new 10mm program has helped a lot.

I get more slag re-welding when I let the water in the table get too low.
1/2" under the plate is about right.

I have never had the need to do anything thicker than 25mm or have ever tried, book states that 30mm and above needs edge start, however I feel with some fiddling of the pierce delay it would punch through 32mm with out drama. The most impressive is the fact that you can cut that thickness at all with the duty cycle you have. Doing the 25mm that I have done once you cut about 400mm the fan comes on in the PM125 (it cycles on and off) and does blow out quit a bit of hot air, as you would expect. I got the PM125 never expecting to cut 25mm plate, but wanted to make sure that when I needed to cut it would cut and not stop. So it does that . Oh my table is down draft so I don't get the advantage of the water cooling the slag for it to break off easily, it does so anyway. With S/S and aluminium I use nitrogen to get a better edge finish, so I'm content at the moment. It would be nice to get more work for my machine as physically it is easier on me

On the re-melted slag problem, I think your powermax 125 working within it's limits, has enough plasma gas/shield
air flow to blow the slag off the part.
With Hood's usage above his power supply & torch stated max. limits, the air flow might be lacking, so the quenching from the water helps.

that's 3.94 in/min, I did think to myself the video showed it moving pretty slow.

I would have thought the voltage would be higher, based on the Hypertherm charts.

Voltage is machine dependant, my last plasma had way different voltage than the Jasic, higher I think but it was a few years back so can't say for sure.

Replaced the relay on the board last night, and I was back in business.

Sadly, i couldn't get any good cuts.

I haven't taken pics because I'm too embarrassed, but the sideways bevel is horrendous. Cutting 60mm circles out, the sides are like a parallelogram at the 10 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions. The torch body is square to material, and i changed electrodes and nozzles twice. No difference.
The voltage was right for the cut chart but the speed was about 2/3 the recommended for 5mm (1500mm vs 2500mm/min) as it wasn't cutting clean any faster.
Circles are round (the tops anyway) at up to 8000mm/min on thin stuff and the cut edge is very smooth, so that's good.
Perhaps its just moody consumables and my DIY torch. Esab consumables are a horrendous price so I'm very close to just binning it and ordering a PTM-100 torch instead.

Yes it does. Its a worn one I've got on there now but it still fires... Could it be causing a wonky arc?
