Cnc rotary table.

Yep I know the feeling about spending on the workshop but ha ho it might as well be in tools and equipment that passes time and you get enjoyment out of as in the bank at least in tools etc you have something to show for your money .I am allso just going to go down the direct route for the time being that's what I have been doing whilst cutting gears recently

I saw some of that. Was that a horizontal mill spindle you were using in the lathe to hob the gear.

Most of the reason I'm building this is for gear cutting.

Tempted to move the wormdrive I bought for my x axis to raise and lower the head instead and use steppers for table movement if this goes well.

Would require gears to be cut so will see some use.

Yes that was a horizontal mill spindle I was using the only way I could work it as the Drummond only has a Mt 1 taper in the spindle of the headstock some of the gears are ok some are not but ha ho it's a learning curve and I had a problem with the 16 tooth invalute cutter not holding its edge the smaller one has been brill but the other is crap and I had it replaced but the new one lost its edge after the same no of cuts (faulty batch springs to mind

I was playing with a stepper motor driver recently that looks very similar to the one you are thinking of using. The one I tried appears to have some odd behavior but this could also be resonance issues within the stepper motors themselves.

Im a big fan of the Geko stepper driver and also the Mach3 boards. The GRBL board is actually also really good running of the arduino. I have also made a few videos using the GRBL board for a engraver that I built.

I recently bought a rotary looks like your vertex, but the one I have has a different name on. Will be watch this with interest.

I based my rotary table project on an earlier one by Gary Liming.

Finally made a start.
Will machine an Arbour tomorrow and get the other side finished

Compared to other Ali I've machined this stuff was beautiful.
Originally bought to machine new handles for a ml1

Will have a second similar piece machined square to mount the motor too and have a bit of 60mm bar stock to bore to span the shaft

Faced it off with the boring bar as it was in the holder. Left a great finish.

Il be leaving a step on the unfinished side to seat the tube on cap heads will also be countersunk inside the step.
Hoping I have enough meat to secure the tube to this part through the walls of it.

Other end should be pretty similar but il mill it square after turning for looks.

Fed up of rust removal for now and wanted to actually make something.
Division master has been in the garage for 6 months so far.

Arbours in the collet ready for tomorrow.
Bit late now given my grumpy neighbours

Cutting some stock down to make another mandrel. Offcut of which will become the tube

Brew while this cools down then il go for final dims.
Second mandrel I've had to make.

Getting depressing having so many half finished projects

Started this one as I'm fed up of rust and paint.

0.01mm clock.
Not gonna argue with that.

Noticed a stiff spot while rotating the spindle.
May have to strip it down and see what's going on.
