NuneatonCollege, C&G Paint&Body incl. welding Tues evenings

Just started an evening course at Nuneaton & Hinkley College. Tues evenings 6-9pm. Started Sept22. Runs for 36 weeks. Cost me £395, of which £70 is for exams. Half the class of 12 on benefits got it for free. Teacher is ex-body shop with 16 years experience. Apparently the plan is to bring in own panels, dolly dents out, weld in new steel, file it, sand it, fill it, prime it, top coat it, do some spot welding, fabricate stuff some stuff... a bit of everything.... Looking forward to the next 34 sessions and fixing everything in my garage Oh, there is a 2-evening per week advanced paint course (Paint Refinishing) evening course at twice the price... My experience of the admin side of the college is terrible to say the least, so you might need to persevere if you want to know anything bar the cost....

Exeter College are running a 'General Welding' evening class course. This starts on Monday 22nd or Tuesday 23rd September (you can choose which suits you), and runs for 10 weeks - 2 hours per evening from 7.00pm till 9.00pm. Cost is £108.00 (please check this as the chap I spoke to was less than confident).
The format seems to be that you tell the tutor what you want to learn ie TIG, MIG, MMA, and he will set you going and give guidance as required.
They are also running the same course on Wednesdays starting on 24th, but this is for more advanced work such as pipework etc.

This is not a certificated course.

Sorry this is short notice, but details have only been confirmed recently.

i looked into doing a ali/stainless coarse at northampton college.

was going to pay for it myself, it was £176, there abouts, but the govermeant has cut funding and the coarse is around the £550 mark.

Seems to be the norm, unfortunately. I worked part-time at a local college as an instructor for about 10 weeks (about the max I could stand without going mental) and the place was, and still is run by clowns. More layers of bureaucracy than you could shake a stick at, and still THE most 'disorganised organisation' I have ever encountered.

Still, one of the reasons I started up my own business, so a good 'life lesson'

im looking for an evening course i have found one in rotherham that starts at 6 but i would never get there in time and cant see anything for sheffield so wondered if anyone on here knew of one

Deeside college, North Wales. they ran an introduction to welding which was cheaper, then the level 2&3 were £200 each. I got it free as I was doing an nvq fast fit technician qualification and I would have got a £200 bonus on completing it off the government. Unfortunately I had to stop going due to work not letting me leave early like they promised they would and I was missing half the class by the time i got there.

Anyone know of any good colleges in the South East? I'm based in Worthing and have been to Chichester College for NVQ's in MIG and TIG. They don't offer any higher than NVQ level 2.

The courses at Exeter college are now £180 and you don't get a certificate at the end.

But Neil is truly an incredible welder. And can spot your technique flaws quickly and point you in the right direction.

I've just finished an evening TIG course and I am now confident that I can weld ally and SS to a reasonable standard. I still need lots of practice but that effortlessness that Neil has will come with time.
