That looks damn good. It can allegedly cut 39mm in a single pass.
£1019 inc VAT (was 1519). Does not include riser legs (+£22), or rotary roller accessory (+£129). Also don't think it includes a honeycomb bed as that is explicitly called out in one of the "Combo sale" deals but I can't find it listed separately.
But it won't be 40watt output power. You can buy laser heads to turn a normal 3d printer into a laser one.

Yep, got an x1-carbon at work and is amazing bit of kit. Hence wanting one! But if the k1 was 80% as good at ⅓ of the cost then would possibly sway me.
(Bambu lab is only a 256x256x256 build deck also, and my ender 3 at present is only a 220x220x200 and never gotten close to maxing them out)

Most of the more powerful heads have air assistance. Obviously wearing good safety glasses is essential. My project many moons ago in university was building a 40W CO2 laser from scratch.Yeah, that is technically true if you want to cut card or similar with a 1.6W head but I'll take a custom designed machine with air assist and a few more safety features to wield a 40W lightsaber around thanks For reference the 40W head is just £699 if you want to strap that to a 3D printer
Took me forever - I even ground the mirrors by handNice project and only now, many moons on, diodes are finally getting to that power level, albeit by combining multiple beams. It's over a decade I've been saying "when diodes can cut 3/4" ply count me in", that time seems to have arrived!
that makes a noise like a pub toilet hand drier that's had a friday night kicking.
Thanks for the update Pete, I think I ordered mine three business days after you ordered yours so a few more days to cram FreeCad videos before I have a machine to play with.
The K1 has a monster fan in it because it's designed for super fast printing. The bambu is the same but not as loud.Complain about the fan, they will replace it.
I have a number of small relatively simple parts for use around the house and greenhouse that should be easy to design that are not available and probably never were. I also have a number of older lenses that need lens hoods suitable for the APSC format camera they are now been used on, Contax or Zeiss only made lens hoods for full frame because that is what the lenses were made for and the original accessories for a forty year old lens are like hens' teeth and priced to match. You'll be able to print stuff that's downloaded readily enough, but you'll probably have to run it through the slicer first. I might re-print my Balzer reliever model one evening when I'm working out in the workshop. I reckon that it will come out very well. One day I will build a proper working one.
