Yes, that is their major drawback - and why I never bought one. I have seen people try to silence them with baffled pipes and tubes, etc.

Thanks MattF; I briefly ran the Henry with the cyclone hooked up with just the lid loosely sitting on top of the bucket and the suction was pretty impressive; not only will the cyclone separate the dust from the air but it should ensure the Henry doesn't lose suction due to a blocked filter which happens so often with standard vacs so although it's only rated at 620W the performance should remain constant; for my current home workshop needs I think it will cope nicely; if I do any major jobs I can always revert back to face mask with dust pan and brush.
Here's what I want to avoid in future;
I needed 300' of moulded frames for our front room so ended up routing 600' because both edges needed routing. This was just some of the debris; I kept sweeping up then doing more routing.
Everything covered in dust and chips just right as an health and fire risk; I've never liked wearing dust masks and even bought a Trend Airshield Pro helmet at one point but didn't like it and didn't like the two weeks it took to charge the thing up.
Here's the set up with one of my big 3hp routers; the router is fixed and adjusted for full depth of cut with a pair of long wooden side guides all I had to do was to feed the 16' lengths of timber through and it was amazing just how quick and efficient this set up proved to be.
I've since sold the Startrite combination woodworker which was a brilliant machine I owned for about ten years; I bought it as scrap for £1,000 completely rebuilt it and although the three motors were 3 phase I ran it from our 240V single phase supply with just a single start and single run capacitor seen below the control panel; I got £1,200 for it when I sold it on and it was a bargain. On the bench can be seen the material for the next project this being a coffered ceiling to our master bedroom.
The bungalow is now completed so I no longer need large machines but I do want to look after my health hence the cyclone which is well overdue; it's interesting that all the cyclone dust extractor possibly costs less than the Record Power standard extractor and I'm sure the cyclone will be much better. Just rambling on because as usual only sick stuff on normal TV; my wife is watching an episode of TJ Hooker via YouTube.

Easier to buy something to spec especially given the price of it. And saves hassle trying to debate the finer points with a HS bod

If I'm doing any sanding at the lathe I use my 3M Versaflo system; immensely clear and comfortable as the battery pack and filter is on your hips.

I have the NVD750, its the twin motor version of the NV750. It is now redundant as I have the big chip extractor, I was going to put it on ukworkshop for sale section as there are more wood botherers on there, but could put it on the for sale pages here if there is any interest.
