Not been my experience at all.quickly realised, best avoid young / fresh from school dentists, best to go with someone over 40 years old, who's been dentisting for years. The younger ones seem to do poor quality work, cause damage etc. that the older chaps have to correct.
Mine picks me up whenever ai need something. I ought to have a checkup but don't have any issues. My dentist is doing the same to me...you are allowed 2 years between check ups. I start getting Fuhrer emails after 9 months from last visit
Yeah I bet you did.I had a similar experience, though not quite as dramatic as an emergency A&E visit. I once went to a dentist who was supposed to be highly recommended, but they botched my root canal so badly that I ended up needing to see a specialist. It really made me rethink how we trust "experienced" dentists just because they’ve been doing it for a while.
Unless the thread touched a nerve, so to speak, and compelled them to join the forum ;-)Yeah I bet you did.
What a strange first post...... I can smell tinned meat.....
No, the poster seems to have joined an awful lot of forums very recently, which is a dead giveaway.Unless the thread touched a nerve, so to speak, and compelled them to join the forum ;-)
My last private filling was £116 four months ago which i consider a bargain because the next tooth along, 10 years ago, cost £30 on the NHS and then a further £300 for a pin and cap at a private dentist. It was about 7 years since my last dental work and I had broken teeth during Covid. (Chipped back teeth x2)
Went back recently "private" I believe. Not sure if its subsidised somehow, it must be. Same dentist since my teens and I do work etc and they always ask do you pay for treatment and I say yes....
Had checkup, X ray and went back for my 3x fillings and clean last week. £84 all in, was 30 minutes in the seat and all done. And I'll claim that back anyway on my work private health insurance plan.
2031 for next appointment then!
My local one informed every patient by letter that they were stopping all NHS treatment and we would need to re-register private or find another. An impossible task.
That's what happened at mine, it's now £20 a month just to be on the books and a yearly checkup.
What choice have you got though!.
I had a Wisdom tooth extraction recently, £130 iirc which was worth every penny!.

Shows how broken our healtcare system is if you have to pay a monlty subscription to keep on a dentist register.
Having said that, I am always surprised in other countries at the state of young people's teeth.
It goes to fund the over burdened system. Tis a combination of more people, and more treatments as we are living longer requiring even more expensive treatments. Having said that….we are still far better off than many when you look at it with a global view. You do wonder where your National Insurance contributions go, seems we are paying twice for the same service..

FTFYI guess those who work are also having to pay for the others who won't work for a living and expect it all for free
Was this by any chance recommended by someone that wants you to be quiet for 15 minutesBasically you get coconut oil, looks like a big lump of fat, put a large tespoonful in your mouth, let it melt and swish it round and such through your teeth back and forth for 10 - 15 mins then spit in in a bin or old satchet or jar for disposal ,do not put down sink or swallow it. I also had a grumbling old filling for last 2 or 3 years due to get the whole thing removed but hasn't bothered me since.
