Drilling a Container Lock

Can you thread a cord round the lower yoke of the lock?
If so, diamond paste pressed into the cord and saw it off like those two handed flexible tree saws they sell for camping or on a larger scale like they sawed the Kursk in half with a hawser that had abrasive collars threaded on.
(Yes industrial diamond paste is available - no need to crush the wife's engagement ring!)

good idea , could use a slitting disc on a grinder , but you would need to judge exact height of cut , if possible cutting through between the locking "eyes"(lugs) , other than that as I said previous cut box open ,cut lock, re weld box . @Pigeon_Droppings2 is definatly the better option if you could achieve it , think you will need another container though to work out where to cut.

Either way he will need power on site to weld back up.
He also has UK listed as location so no members know if they could help.

ive just been offered 150 quid to cut the locks out of a gun safe as they have lost the keys easy with an angle grinder and slitting disks bad news is its 50 miles away

Wouldn't a locksmith be a better option? Might cost a few quid more but could be netted off against selling the cabinet if they provided a key. He could even lock them up again until sold...

dont say that once went hangliding up the yorshire dales one of the best days. went to rig the glider and found id left all the wing battons at home in a bag 120 miles for nothing and no flying

We were on a camp site in Cornwall & a young couple turned up in a MG Midget, got the tent out, still in polly bag, all the rest of the kit, obviously got new for a weekend of “pleasure ” to find no poles in bag. Much cutting of pea sticks in the hedges & one very drunken tent. On another occasion, we in the Channel isles, family turns up late in the evening off the ferry, estate car all unpacked & the shout goes up “what did you do with the canvass” left at home in the garage! The site owner helped out with the canvass off a hire tent, but there was a bit of a panic. Not long after we were married, got about 20 miles away from home & realised wifey had left her contraceptive pills behind, just had to turn around for that one

Done similar, went to BOS in Annecy, forgot my Vario, sent the whole week using a borrowed old davron.

If it's rust, you could try spraying/squirting some vinegar into it to dissolve it. I'd leave for no more than 24hrs before lubing it afterwards (followed by the bin)
