Virtually all lorries have them. Most American ones use air suspension I believe. I can't really say about weather that be legal in the UK but I doubt it.

I've been trying to imagine how you'd hydraulically/electrically do the lift thing.
Only other big unknown for me is suspension capacity type stuff. It's hard to test for a 1T weight without having 1T test weights. Leaf springs seem to be the way, but choosing and sizing them? I must admit,
Yes but lorries have the air supply to start with and they fail safe even if the air bag fails they are supported by the axel and its Bumpstop before it hits the ground. I'm not entirely sure how that is built into the drop deck car trailers I have seen but there must be some way of doing it.Virtually all lorries have them.
Apologies for resurrecting an old post, but I'm considering doing the same with a Bridgeport. Any idea what it would weigh minus the head and table? Under 700 kg or is that being hopeful? Is it lifting it on to collect or lifting it off when you get home or both that's the challenge?
I have used my local builder merchant a few times to pick stuff into a trailer with their hiab, few quid for their tea fund and makes life easy
Flat bed car trailer is another option, if you have skates you could winch it up, done similar picking up a J&S 540
When my FIL sold his BP mill, we stripped the head and table off it, lifted it with an engine crane and reversed the trailer under it
Good luck

Complete they weigh about 950kg.Apologies for resurrecting an old post, but I'm considering doing the same with a Bridgeport. Any idea what it would weigh minus the head and table? Under 700 kg or is that being hopeful?
Dunno, I have lifted a Bridgeport into the back of a Transit vanApologies for resurrecting an old post, but I'm considering doing the same with a Bridgeport. Any idea what it would weigh minus the head and table? Under 700 kg or is that being hopeful?
