hydrogen is a lot less efficient than electric charging.... use electric to split hydrogen, compress and cool to -253'C to liquify it, transport it to petrol (or whatever) stations etc. etc. etc.
might be worth it in Australia where they can drive really long distance through the middle of nowhere where it's too far to go on a single charge and there's no where to stop and charge etc. ?
batteries are getting better pretty quickly, I think (just what I think) most of the problems everyone is complaining about will be negated once battery tech advances enough, higher capacities, different materials etc. etc.

Its hard to see battery tech advancing enough.
The limitation is always going to be just how much energy they can compress into a battery small enough and light enough.
I believe the batteries already contain more energy density than its equivalent amount of TNT ( a sobering thought). When you think that you can Weld with as little as 20A... then what is in a battery pack under your backside takes on a whole different perspective!
The brilliance of the ICE is not it's efficiency (which is nowhere near what an electric motor can produce) - but that you do not need to carry the vast majority of the "fuel" it burns to make its power - because the majority of the fuel in the combustion process is the air around us..... where the battery needs to store and provide 100% of the energy.

I am sure it is not as simple as that, farmers fit wides tyres for low ground pressure, so I reckon the wider the tyre the less grip per square inch you have?
Farmers have balloon tyres to spread the load over a greater surface area to prevent sinking & getting stuck - not for improved grip per se.
But a wide, flat profile, sticky compound performance tyre will offer more grip, but also increase surface and wind resistance over a skinny tyre.... and if the skinny tyre is also a harder, more durable compound, then you decrease drag further.
Look at WRC cars in Snowy/Icy Rally's - the fit skinny tyres to cut through the snow crust

Possibly. What it won't do is generate enough hydrogen to power itself down the road as it takes more energy to split the water that is gained by burning it...
If anyone wants proof the World has gone mad there is a scheme to lay the World's 3 longest undersea cables from Morocco to Britain. They will build a giant solar farm there.
Ovo are backing it
It will help Britain become Carbon Neutral they say.
Wouldn't it be better for the planet to run it to Nigeria instead? Far closer and cheaper with far less losses.

Why mad? It's always sunny in Morocco so a few square miles would produce huge amounts of power. Whack the voltage up and losses would be minimal, and you have power which is going to come online every single day on a predictable timetable. What would running it to Nigeria achieve?
