I find it odd that they are focused on ICE and don't have several bays of charging stations. I can't remember the last time I saw a petrol station being upgraded around my way, usually they have simply shut up shop. I know of half a dozen that have gone that way in the last decade.

And also odd that both the rebuilt ones you have to go inside to pay, no pay-at-pump facility. Bearing in mind the covid isolation rules we lived under when the renovations were started.

In the future I suspect getting planning for a mixed refueling place from new for a virgin site will be exceedingly difficult due to pollution concerns , greens , traffic routes to it and NIMBY's so re building & converting one that's gone for a song in these strained time sounds like a sound 30 year investment to me .

Here in Wales the big boys all have several 99 pound pay at the pumps , it means they can run 24/7 without staff or staff being attacked etc.
The few local independents or smaller group ones that run shops do tend to have pay inside in the shop's in the hope that your chaotic life style will see if you'll be daft enough to buy their convenience goods at extortionate prices .

I always use the Asda pay at pump near me, easy, simple and cheapest fuel in town. However, they don't take Mastercard. I'm sure that has confounded more than a few people over the years, just as it did me the first time.

With 230 mile distance being a more reasonable journey time it's going to be more of a case of using your iPhone & sat nav to plan where you will have a break from driving to get refreshed and the car charged up surely . That's how we've done our extensive caravanning inn the UK & all over EU Europe for the last 30 years , migrating over to a PHEV was easy .
Soon we'll stop caravanning with our 5 berth Bailey due to my disabilities and age & wholly embrace a full EV .

charger installs will follow electric car sales, as there's more demand for charging more chargers will be installed

on top of that electric car rangers are steadily increasing... so not much point installing chargers for the expected demand in 20 years when we have no real idea what the demand will be in 20 years

So they have specific car charging places you can drop into, nothing to do with petrol stations as such?

yeah, they're mostly not "stations"..... but there's a lot of publically accessible chargers in car parks, shopping centers, industrial estates etc.

Tesla tells you where all the chargers are (in the car) - both T and non-T sites. There’s a few apps about as well that map them out but in my experience they are a bit hit and miss. You’d probably be surprised how many charging points are scattered about. But yes, planning your journey becomes a requirement and very routine.

Our local Tesco 24 hrs in Ammanford has now recently commissioned half a dozen or more fast chargers in a quieter part of their big carpark .

When we got our PHEV in April 2015 several small holders we knew who also ran farm holidays & B&B's know told us we could charge for free so long as their 20 plus panel arrays were charging .

Have you seen the litter in a lay-by, you’d want a stranger doing the same at your house seeing as most of the population can’t take their rubbish home

I think majority of the public won’t want nor allow that

So considering - "going back in time" and put three "sales cars on it" - used cars "worth as much as gold now".

Iv always had one car a month as a do’er upper sales car

Little Peugeot partner with wheelchair ramp in the back was £300 worth £4K when done

Have traded with bikes and cars since my apprenticeship and never had one back

My wife has got a Tesla model 3 and I have got a Ford Ranger.

I find myself driving the Tesla often just because it is soooo much cheaper (with our current electricity fix until Mar 2023).

With the talk of the CRAZY energy cap of Apr 2023 I wonder if it will not be more expensive to drive the Tesla than the Diesel Ford ............

We are SERIOUSLY considering getting a property with a bit of land (1 or 2 acre) and then I can install my own 'solar farm'.

While solar panels on a roof can help bring energy costs down, it just does not seem like a worthwhile investment to me. I want to generate 80% of my own energy and the only way that can be achieved is with a bit of land with loads of solar panels.

It seems like the 'break even' point of installing solar panels are ever getting shorter.......
