Anyway, I have found a problem with my electric car,


That’s actually I fairly big oversight. No heated washers or was it the fluid being too weakly mixed?

What ev do you have?

it still had a 25% mix, now topped up with neat fluid, its a seat Mii.

I’m not sure it’s just an ev thing, my seat (hybrid) remained frozen yesterday for the best part of 2 hours - they only defrosted once the outside temp got above freezing and I had stopped for half an hour at Warwick services. I had been running on the engine for about an hour and a half or more and it refused to play ball!

Best “wife accident” I’ve heard of was someone that worked with me years ago. His wife ran straight up the ramp of a parked cattle truck, into the truck & smashed straight into the far end. Lots of steam, the engine stopped, the trouble was the car was a nice tight fit & she couldn’t open the doors to get out, engine wouldn’t run to back out, she was well & truly stuck! She didn’t see the truck because of the sun.

I've had 4 accidents.

1st. (Jersey) Old dear ran wide on a bend and stove in the side of my van.
Sent her on her way. Cheap van and already battered.

2nd (jersey)
Nasty T junction one car in front. Gap comes up. Car in front pulls out. I look left. Still clear. Loads of time. Glance back the the pillock has stopped.

3rd. Reversing on a new build site. Car hidden Behind wheelie bins. As the car comes into view my back wheel drops down the huge curb and it's too late.

4th.

60mph road. Traffic starts slowing. Prat in front panics and slams his brakes on. Slammed mine on and dove right. Ripped his tyre open with my front wheel nuts. Bloody close.

Put a better screen wash in them , one that has enough alcohol in it to work at minus 20 oC or lower , not the Halfords /supermarket mouth wash that freezes at + 3 oC due to wind chill when your driving at the allowed speed limit if it's safe .


In Poland the extended family use neat 40 % ABV Vodka or higher as screen wash .

The polish I work with wouldn't waste that on the windscreen.

Ironically, limiting vehicles like this will actually cause some collisions.
There are times (quite a lot if you think about it) where to make room for someone else's vehicle or action - your only safe "out" is to accelerate into space.
Take that option away, and you're a sitting duck.

I think, to be fair, that by the time we have that level of control, the car will be seeing its surroundings more clearly than many (most?) drivers bother to do.
Its default action will be to slow YOU down.
Agree with what you're saying: anyone who's ever ridden a small-capacity motorcycle in busy traffic will have numerous examples of when they could have used more power to get out of a situation.

It is very good sometimes to be able to "put some distance" between you and other road users by putting them a healthy mileage behind you. Sharing the same piece of road with others is getting increasingly unhealthy!

More and more drivers now are not just what I call the three "I's" (incompetent, inconsiderate, ignorant) - but also now highly erratic and less predictable, frustrating & stressful, & increasingly entitled and downright dangerous to be around.

(One of the nicest aspects of riding a large motorcycle was the luxury of an abundance of acceleration to drag yourself into the clear, with loads more safe overtaking options)

Nope.
Wirh wind they have built so many turbines it has become a base load. But a very intermittent one.
We should have large amounts of nuclear and then gas as the intermittent supply.
Or invent a way of storing the vast amounts of power wind can sometimes generate.
More wind turbines is not the answer as even with double the amount we have there are plenty of times where they do next to nothing.

Funnily enough Nick Clegg said in 2010 renewables were the way to go as new nuclear power stations wouldn't be ready until 2022

I’m no supporter of Nick Clegg but what he said was factually correct, no?

If they had approved a new nuclear build in 2010 it wouldn’t have been ready until now…as it is it’s running late and over budget anyway, so probably good that they got some renewables in to reduce the load on gas in the meantime.

Tesla - not a fan, for £50k I expect better build quality than a homemade kit car
MG EV, ugly and terrible range
Polestar - very nice but long lead times
